Broken

Empty without words,
brimming with feelings;
Everything is so dark,
I can't find my ground anymore.

In that spur of apprehension,
you snapped the strings
holding us together;
You left me in the dark,
never to be back again.

A millennial of reasons
cannot heal this void
you tore into my fragile heart,
shattering what I had left,
Of you, of us.

You were the fire
burning in the shadows;
I was a forest,
devoid of any light;
You gave me my reason,
but you never told me
you could wrench it away just as easily.

You left me the ashes
of what we'd once been;
A surging flood of memories,
dark and sweet;
I tell myself that is enough;
But will anything ever be?
