"We are going to meet someone today, " Ma said excitedly as soon as I walked downstairs dressed up for an outing she told me about. Without disclosing the outing.

Luciano was gone when I woke up from sleep, not leaving any trace about his disappearance. I didn't bother to ask Ma about him because it was useless. He knew Ma trusted me, so saying something confidential to her would mean to me knowing about it.

"Who is it?" I asked curiously as we reached the car which was parked on the far side of the driveway.

"It's a surprise."

"Should I be worried?" I teased. She rolled her eyes before entering the car as I followed her movement.

The car ride was not silent, Ma and I talked about the times she was a teenager and the pranks she pulled.

"I hated maths, I still do. So one time, I got this fake snake from one of my friends. We were at school when the idea came in. I and my friends placed this snake at the door of our classroom just before the maths class. And when the bitchy teacher came to the classroom the snake fall on her." She laughed loudly.

She took a moment from her wheezing. "It's not even the best part, she peed herself in front of the whole classroom."

This time I couldn't help but bark out a laugh, throwing my head at the backside.

And that was how the whole ride was spent.

The car came to stop with a halting screech. I was looking around trying to find something that could help me understand where I was but to no avail.

Ma chuckled beside me. "Impatient, girl."

I just pouted like a child when I noticed that the car was parked in a driveway.

"Where are we?" The curiously was leaking out from my words.

"Shush and follow me." She ordered.

I obliged her order and followed her out of the car and into the house which was as huge as Luciano's but big enough to carry atleast hundreds of elephants in it.

When Ma press the doorbell a kind-looking woman opened the door.

An instant smile was placed on her lips as she saw Ma. "Oh heavens, Laura, how are you?"

Ma smiled at the lady. "I'm fine Maria, what about you?"

"I'm good. I can't believe you are here," she hugged Ma's fragile body.

Maria was a beautiful lady with freckles splattering all over her face and the bright golden hair and big brown eyes. Those were warm, she was in her mid-forties maybe, but one look at her and you know that she was a beauty in her time.

"Maria, this is Adrianna's daughter, Alice," Ma introduced me happily. I smiled at the woman who looked shocked but not necessarily disappointed.

Maria instantly hugged me so tight that I could feel my chest constricts due to lack of oxygen. I hugged her back with whatever strength I had in me.

"Adri did a good job on you. I'm Maria this old lady's little sister." She said once she pulled away from me.

Ma swatted her arms playfully. "Hey, you are the old one between the two of us."

"No, you are."

"You are." I thinned my lips so the chuckle wouldn't escape from the barrier of my lips.

"Ask her, tell me, sweetheart, am I old?" Maria asked, suddenly both the woman was looking at me. Not really knowing what to say I opened my mouth.
