"Hey, Kaminari I am going to drive Deku home, okay?" Uraraka yells across the driveway as she gets into her car.
The sun was laying on the horizon casting everyones shadows large and turning the house into a dark blue. The moving trucks had left an hour ago and since then everyone had been half unpacking and half hanging out.
"Sounds great. Thanks, Uraraka!" Kaminari yells back.
"Deku, come on," Uraraka says to Izuku who had been standing in the yard watching the conversation. Izuku runs over to Uraraka's minivan and hops in.
"Isn't this out of your way?" Izuku asks knowing that his house was far away from Uraraka's and she probably wouldn't make it home before dark if she was driving him.
"Well not really," Uraraka pauses her response as she safely pulls out of the driveway. "I am meeting someone on your side of town so I thought why not drive you back," she explains.
"Who are you meeting?" Izuku asks.
"I... don't really know," Uraraka's voice raises at the end of her sentence. A tell the Izuku recognized as her wishing she didn't have to answer or was nervous to.
"You don't know! Why are you meeting up someone you don't know? That is so stupid and dangerous," Izuku stresses waving his hands around in a panic. Uraraka was far too popular to be meeting up with random people. Izuku remembered around two months ago when Uraraka had just got a restraining order against a stalker and he felt more panic.
"Oh relax. Mina set it up so it is fine. I trust Mina and so do you."
Izuku doesn't respond because Uraraka was right. Mina knew a lot of people but she always made sure they were good people. But he still couldn't help but worry.
"Speaking of meeting new people-"
Izuku quickly cut off Uraraka before she continued. "I don't like Kirishima... in that way. I mean I just met him. And I can't afford to be in a relationship. It would hurt the other person too much. We have talked about this," Izuku looks out the window as he mini rants.
"Deku I'm not expecting for you to instantly fall in love with Kirishima but I am asking you to not be so closed off," Uraraka says softly. The pain in her voice was evident as it always was when she talked about Izuku's love life or lack there of.
"Not to be rude but you don't understand. You get to go on as many dates as you want and your followers love it. If you were to ever get into an actual relationship they wouldn't be rooting against it," Uraraka tries to speak up but Izuku continues. He knew he'd already dug a grave for himself and he was being really mean but it was too late. "The last time I was in a real relationship..."
"Deku you can't put that whole situation on yourself. While yes that was part of the problem it wasn't everything. You have no way of knowing it would happen again," Uraraka was grasping at straws at this point. There was only so much one could say when a past relationship is brought up.
"How would you feel if you were dating someone that people have wrote fanfiction about? Someone who people want to date someone else because they would look cute. How would you feel if people were rooting against your relationship just because?" Izuku snaps.
Izuku felt bad about what he said right away. He and Uraraka had been through this all before. When he got out of his last relationship that was the only way he could think. It took months for him to really feel okay again. It was even worse because during that time he continued to upload and act like everything was fine because he didn't want to worry anyone. She had helped him out of that spiral and now he was yelling about it to her.
