Chapter Eleven

The rest of the dinner went about as well as the beginning. By the end, Izuku was so close to tears but he wasn't going to let Todoroki know that he has gotten to him.

Kirishima had tried his best to do what he could without knowing the whole situation. He tried his best to direct the conversation so Todoroki had less power but that was nearly impossible.

"Okay remember that you and your friend are always welcome," Inko said to Izuku.

"You mean my boyfriend?" Izuku asks. He was tired and wasn't going to deal with his mom's bullshit.

"Sure honey."

Izuku sighs and leaves the house with Kirishima. They both get into the car and the unsettling silence sits in as Kirishima starts driving.

"I'm sorry about them," Izuku mutters just loud enough for Kirishima to hear.

"It's okay. If you don't want to talk about it's okay just know I'm here to listen," Kirishima says.

"I used to date Todoroki," Izuku admits. He wasn't able to bring his eyes to Kirishima.

"You seriously used to date that jerk?" Kirishima asks surprised. He didn't know what he was expecting Izuku to say but it wasn't that.

"He was a lot nicer when I met him," Izuku tries to defend. He wasn't entirely telling the truth though. Looking back on it Todoroki wasn't nicer when they met he was just quieter but back then Izuku thought he was the best.

They met when they were freshmen. Izuku hadn't had any friends in middle school but in high school, he quickly found his group. Todoroki didn't have a group he was always on the outside but close enough to observe. Izuku made it his mission to be Todoroki's friend.

Todoroki constantly tried to push Izuku away but Izuku was persistent so they eventually became friends.

Izuku tried to spend as much time as he could with Todoroki which often led to him skipping events because Todoroki would never go to them.

This only got worse when they started dating. Todoroki would barely acknowledge Izuku in school. He would never go to anything and would encourage Izuku to not go either.

Izuku thrived around people so not going to events was hard but he wanted to make Todoroki happy. Todoroki's general unhappiness with life in Izuku's mind was Izuku's fault.

His friends noticed the change and had tried to say something. But Todoroki turned him against them. He made Izuku think that they were saying things to hurt him or because they thought Todoroki was weird. Izuku believed him and stopped talking to his friends as much. Todoroki quickly became one of the only things in his life.

"Also please don't think that because of my mom's last comment she doesn't like you," Izuku says realizing that Kirishima probably heard her say it.

"Really?" Kirishima questions not sounding at all convinced.

"It took her a while to get used to the fact I'm gay. And when she finally did I was with Todoroki. It is hard for her to accept that we aren't together anymore," Izuku tries to explain in a way that didn't sound like Inko didn't like Kirishima.

"So she still thinks you should date him?" Kirishima asks anxiety bubbling in his stomach.

"Kinda... not really but yes. I don't know it's complicated," Izuku sighs.

Izuku finally gets the courage to look at Kirishima. Tears filled Izuku's eyes as he saw Kirishima was crying. Kirishima didn't make a sound as the tears fell down his face. He simply tried to blink them away so he could see the road better.
