After reaching home, I realized that I'm back at my horrible reality. In desire for a better living, I came a long way from my village all alone. I was hopeful that a graduation degree and practical experience was enough to get a good job. But little did I know, the capitalistic world runs on recommendation letters nowadays.
It had been more than three months and I was frustrated not knowing what to do. I knew my family expected many things from me but I have ruined all those dreams. I couldn't afford to go back to my village and see that disappointed look on their face. I sat at my home here which kept thinking about what happened earlier. I thought that it would have been easier if I died yesterday. I had rents of months to pay and I didn't know how to. With all these thoughts, my day passed and it was night again. I was waiting to go see you again and properly get introduced this time. I made my way to the Grindstone bridge waiting for you. With a smile plastered on my face, I was waiting for you to make an appearance. The memories of yesterday started flashing before my mind and it brought a slight smile on my face. I leaned against the bridge and sat there gazing at the starry night. Hours passed like this but you didn't come and I started getting worried what happened. That night I went back and returned the next day, hoping you'll be there.
A whole week passed like this and one night when I had almost lost the hopes for seeing you again, you walked towards me from behind and looked at me. For that moment, I could not express how happy i was to see you again. I wanted to ask where you were and what had happened, but that didn't seem important anymore. I was happy that you were finally back. Looking at me, you smiled, "I'm sorry I couldn't be here earlier and Im so happy that you waited for me. I really wanted to talk to you again." then you poked my cheeks and smiled, "Looks like you are still alive, mister. What changed your mind?". With a soft chuckle, I faced you, "Well, an amazing ball of sunshine stopped me from dying". For some reasons, I couldn't stop smiling whenever I was around you. You had this amazing charm for lifting the mood up. We talked for hours that night and I told you everything about me and my situation. You were the first one who sincerely listened to me and then you held my hand tightly and said, "I believe that miracles do happen and things change. And you are such a nice person, I'm sure all your problems will be solved". I knew you were saying those to make me feel better and honestly it was working.
I honestly wished that night to never end. You leaned against me and pointed up at the sky. Smirking, you pointed at a start at the north sky, "That is my favourite star, it always keeps it's majestic glow hidden, I call it Pristone". I looked at you and kept smiling at that cute name. You told me how you grew up in a mansion and never got to explore the city enough. You told me about your first time riding a bike and first time trying strawberry ice creams. You told me about how you always wanted to see the fireworks. And with your words, I felt what an amazing childhood you must have had.
Being with you, I never realize how fast time flies. It was almost morning again and you excused yourself away. That night we promised to be friends and talk about everything. And i honestly was looking forward to it. I never lied about you being the lucky charm for me.
The next day I had another job interview and this time i got the job. I felt like all my problems were starting to get solved slowly. That night I came back at the bridge with strawberry ice cream with me. I had to thank you for being my lucky charm. As soon as you heard the news, you rushed and hugged me tight and put a soft kiss on my cheeks, "See I told you it will all be alright.", you replied with a smile. We kept talking about everything for real.
We started talking everyday for the whole night. We never realized how fast time passed by. Before we knew it was more than a month and still we never ran out of words to say. We had made a promise of never asking each other our names. You said that there was something magical about it. And i honestly agreed to that.
Meanwhile, my life started to drive on track, I was able to get promoted and had a proper job life. But deep down, I knew these were too good to last and one day my fear came into being.
