It started when I was a mere child, when the incident occurred. I was laying in bed that night, although it has scarred me for life, most of it remains as a blur. I remember hearing my dog barking rather loudly as my father rushed downstairs, I remember feeling uneasy as the stars shined brightly throughout my room thanks to the open window. It remember the cold air brush throughout the room and the loud footsteps echoing throughout the entire house. It seemed like everything was well, as most of the noises seemed to have stopped maybe thirty minutes after they started. I thought everything was okay.
But I knew I was wrong when I heard the loud footsteps. Ones of boots, not the slippers my father often wore. My mother had passed a few years earlier, so I knew my mother wasn't home and I knew my father hadn't put on his boots. I was frozen in panic, I hadn't but a clue as to what I was supposed to do within that moment. Their footsteps echoed in a taunting manner as I tried to silently hide, all I could think of was hiding within that closet.
They were trying to scare me it seemed, noting how slowly they walked. It worked efficiently for my younger self, as I knew I wasn't supposed to move. The moments were agonizing, before they stood right in front of me. A black mask covered their face, but I could see in their posture that they wanted me alive. When they grabbed my arm, I let out a scream before they covered my face with a cloth and it all went black.
You know why they tell you to never let your kidnapper take you to the second location? It's because your chances of survival decrease by quite a lot. And I learned that the hard way. The first thing they did to me was spray me in the eyes with hydrogen peroxide multiple times, and.. Well.. I went blind. It was an agonizing way to lose my vision, but it was said in done under a day.
Most of the things they had done to me were rather minor, but not enjoyable. They knew how to leave permanent scars, and of course I left with them. They sent me off to Adderham, why they did this was beyond me. After seven years of being under their wrath, I was finally free in the secretive Nakian country. Or so I thought.
