When I came to, I looked around and seen Garrett.. Laying there.. He was dead, without a doubt, but.. He was smiling.. In his hands were those iconic forest green roses I had only heard of in a fairytale when I was younger, Stefano's Roses. They were stained in the late king's blood, and I cried. I sobbed in agony as I looked at my fallen friend, my first friend, my newly lost enemy, and I was the last face he had ever seen..
I couldn't believe that I had taken his life. Even under his influence or his control, I had still killed him and his blood remained on my shirt, it was now even bleeding through. I could feel his warm blood on my shirt, my stomach.. It was heart-wrenching to realize; he had made me do that, so I'd be able to go home.
I fell to my knees beside him, patting his head and holding him close. I could feel the newfound coldness his body had taken, and I couldn't help the ravage tears that came to my eyes. Oh Garrett, if only you hadn't been so selfless..
"I'll always remember you, buddy.." I stood up, softly yet quickly. "But now, I think I'll have to find Luca.. I hope he's okay."
I silently walked off, listening for footsteps throughout the forest. I had become rather good with my ears, thanks to the whole once was blind thing. I heard footsteps not too long into my mini walk, so I headed over.. Just to see Declan.
