I'm changing the word for someone who is Mir to Mirian. Because I can and it sounds better-

Virgil awoke late that night, unable to fall asleep. The others were all still sleeping, leaving Virgil alone in the room. With a sigh Virgil sat up, stretching out his wings. He looked at the other's, smiling lightly. Over time he had grown to like them, and that scared him a bit. What they were doing was risky, but Virgil had a feelings things would turn out just fine.

Standing, Virgil tucked his wings back, wanting to get some fresh air. On the way out the door he grabbed his jacket, slipping it on as he walked down the empty hallway. The inn was quiet, only a few dunks were hovering around, a few attempted to talk with Virgil, but he quickly brushed them off.

Virgil hurried out of the inn door, and into the streets of Bezo. It was much cooler than it had been during the day, just cool enough that Virgil could wear his jacket comfortably. The moon was almost full, lighting up the streets in a way that cast a lot of shadows in places that one could hide in.

He made sure to keep a close eye on those.

After walking for a while Virgil reached the edge of a cliff. Bezo was on top of a small hill/mountain that overlooked the valley and in the distance, the main Mir kingdom. Tomorrow they were supposed to enter the territory that was patrolled more frequently, this was probably going to be their last stop before traveling all day and all night.

Virgil was so focused on his thoughts and the view, he didn't notice someone approaching him from behind. In fact that person got close enough to touch Virgil before they stepped on a twig, gaining Virgil's attention.

The anxious Kryla spun around, sliding a foot back to steady himself. The person was wearing some kind of cloak that made it hard for Virgil to see their face, and had stumbled back a bit when Virgil had turned.

"I'm a friend! I'm not here to harm you." The person said quickly, holding out their hands. The voice sounded vaguely familiar.

Virgil narrowed his eyes. "Who are you?" He demanded, glancing around for any plant that might be useful here. It was mainly just grass and probably dead bushes. This is why you kept your damn knife on you.

The person slowly pulled down their hood. "Don't freak out... But it's me, Remus." Virgil felt his heart skip like five beats. Remus was standing in front of him. Remus, Janus's right hand man was right there.

"What do you want?" Virgil demanded, still trying to find a weapon. He had forgotten to stick more seeds in his wings, didn't have a knife, and only had the grass to work with. This is why we stay prepared kids.

"I want to help," Remus said, letting his small wings slide out from under his cloak. "What Janus is doing is insane, and though I agree with his motives, this isn't the way. Plus," He looked past Virgil towards Mir. "That's partly my family..."

Virgil shook his head. "I can't trust you. This entire time you've been on Janus's side, there is no way I'm risking everything to help someone I can't trust." He started to walk away, needing to get back to the inn and warn the others.

But Remus spoke again. "The day you helped the Mirians escape. I saw you, I didn't tell my patrol that you were there." Virgil froze, glancing back at his old friend.

"How do I know you're not lying?" Virgil asked. Something inside him wanted to trust Remus, wanted to have at least one ally from his old home. But he also wanted to keep the mission, and his new friends safe too.

"You were in a ditch, hiding the other's with your wings." Remus took a step forward, holding a hand out to Virgil. "I may be chaotic, and I may love Janus, but I want to do the right thing here."

Virgil looked at him, smiling a bit. The plants started to yell to not trust him. To run away and never return, to just hide from the world. But they were just plants, what did they know? Virgil grasped Remus's hand.

"Fine. Don't let me regret this." Virgil said as the two shook hands. Remus grinned at him.

"You won't. Janus is going to attack this town tomorrow morning. Be ready." Remus said. And with a wink he backed off the cliff, flying back towards the village.

Janus hadn't slept in weeks. The people were growing anxious, and Virgil and the Mirians were getting closer and closer to the Mir kingdom. If they wanted to act, they needed to act now.

Smith walked over to Janus, the two alone in the middle of their village. "Sir, the attack is ready for tomorrow."

Janus nodded, staring in the direction their enemy was calmly sleeping, unaware of his impending doom. "Good. While your at it, send a message to the so called king."

Smith looked at him, seeming confused. Janus continued, "It's time to set the bait."
