1. Changes

Kongpob's POV

It has been 2 years since humans survived the corona virus. Almost half of the populations are wiped out, the world is recovering. Nations helping one another and become allies to each other

Those who survived the pandemic went through some changes, having intelligent, power and abillites that normal humans don't have. They call us, mutants. 

We coexist with the humans, although there are people who dislike our kind, there are those who accept us too.

The sound of a door slamming snapped me out of my thoughts, I turn my head to the sound and see my friend Em walking towards me. "Kong, what's wrong?"

"nothing." I shook my head flashing him a smile

"Did you study for the test today?" more students came filling the classroom

"I just skimmed through my notes, at least i won't fail. What about you?" I almost laughed seeing his face obviously showing distaste towards studying

He was about to say something before Tew slung an arm around Em's shoulder.

 "why bother asking him? Em never studied before anyways" he pats my shoulder before taking the seat beside me

Em grumbled as he moves to take the table behind me

"Where's Wad?" Em said as his eyes scanned around the classroom searching for our friend

"probaby late again" I chuckled as we know that usually Wad came in last second before the bell rings

The teacher came and there's still no sign of Wad. 

Suddenly there's a loud explosion, enough to cause the school building shake. Students are screaming, lights flickering. I can see smokes outside and fires in multiple places

This is the seventh floor so I could see everything from up here. Soon students are panicking and despite our teacher's warning to stay calm and evacuate, they're all pushing each other. It's a total chaos out there, sirens blaring as several fire trucks trying to extinguish the fire

"Everyone please calm down and don't push each other. Evacuate calmly!" The teacher's warning fell on deaf ears

Em pulled me to my feet "this is no time to space out Kong! We need to get out of here!"

We know that there's no time but we decided to stop by another classroom to check on our 3 other friends as we see May, Maprang and Prae got pushed by other students. May fell down when one of the students pushed her too hard. Em pushed through the students to lift her up trying to prevent her from getting stepped on when Prae screams on top of her lungs "you people better not be stepping on my friend!!" 

I saw another emergency exit that are less crowded so I dragged Prae and the others are close behind me as we ran down the stairs. I opened the door leading us outside and the sight that greets us send a terror down our spine

Author's POV

It's a total chaos but what makes Kongpob and the others tremble in terror are the giant shadows that looks like human but it is so much bigger, the shadows keep slashing and killing people but it's not the humans, it's the mutants that they're targeting. Which means Kongpob and his friends are in danger.

To their horror, the shadows heads all turned to their directions and began running towards them. They all sprinted and run as fast as they can, the shadows hot on their heels. Em stopped and activate his power, he lifted all the giant rubbles from the destroyed buildings and throw them towards the shadows
