Secrets Lie in the Past

Chapter 4: Getting Answers

~Todoroki's POV~

It was easy to look on the internet for prison release and escape records as it was public information.

He knew it must have been a more recent thing based on how Midoriya and Bakugo were talking about it.

The hard part was figuring out who this threat was, Midoriya had never dropped a name or a description for them. This mission was proving harder then figuring out the mystery of Izuku's father.

All he knew was that they hurt Midoriya in the past and that they were out of prison.

Based on that, he had it narrowed down to three suspects:

1. Akemi Himari; A 29 year old female who escaped prison a month ago, arrested for ties with multiple gangs and aggressive assault.

2. Kayo Hisashi; A 44 year old male who escaped prison 5 days ago, arrested for child and spouse abuse as well as unregistered quirk usage on civilians.

3. Minori Chimon; A 52 year old male who was released on bail from prison a week ago, arrested for theft, second degree murder, and assault.

It had to be one of them he knew that, but as he didn't even know the gender his search was at a stand still till more information was given to him.

Shouto found himself looking at Midoriya throughout class. He even caught Uraraka, Iida, All Might, and even Aizawa glancing at the oblivious greenette.

It was obvious that Iida had already informed the teachers on the matter which was good. But he still found himself to be tense throughout the school day.

~Time Skip~

The final bell had rung when Aizawa-sensei called Todoroki. Iida, Uraraka, and Bakugou to stay behind.

Bakugou's annoyance at staying behind was made clear in typical Bakugou fashion but the other three were silently resigned as they had an idea on why they were being called to stay.

Only after all the students had left the classroom and the door had closed did Aizawa speak, "It has come to my attention that something is happening to Midoriya. Todoroki, Uraraka, and Iida, good job on bringing to our attention what you learned. Bakugou, you seem to be the only one that knows exactly what is happening besides Midoriya so I'm asking that you tell me what you guys were talking about yesterday and if Midoriya really is in trouble."

Bakugou's scowl deepened, "Why is it any of your business!?"

"We are only worried for Midoriyas safety, Bakugou. Todoroki heard what you two were talking about." cut in Iida.

"Then you already got some of your answers. Bastard got out of jail, the stupid nerd refuses to be to worried. Why should I care then," Bakugou scoffed.

"You said Deku could be hurt!" exclaimed Uraraka.

Aizawa spoke again, "Bakugou, I must implore that you tell me who it is that might go after Midoriya."

"Who else? It's Deku's bastard of a father." Bakugou was clearly unhappy and he left without waiting for there reactions.

~All Might's POV~

All Might didn't know what to think. Did Young Midoriya not trust him to tell him what is happening? He didn't know whether he should try to confront him about it though. So All Might decided that only a little encouragement needs to be given.

"Young Midoriya, how was school today!" implored All Might as he caught up to Midoriya in the hallway.

"All Might! School was great, me and Shouto got paired together for the English assignment which is super cool!" exclaimed a beaming Midoriya.

All Might smiled back, "That's wonderful, I just wanted to remind you that you can tell me anything! As your mentor, teacher, and a superhero, it is my duty to protect and help you!"

Midoriya's smile fell a little, "Oh, ok, got it All Might."

All Might nodded before bidding goodbye and starting to walk away.

He'd only walked a couple steps before Izuku called out again, "All Might! There is something I was hoping to talk to you about."

He turned around, internally relieved, "Of course Young Midoriya. What were you wanting to say?"

"Oh, well, you know how I never really talked about my father, right? Well, he wasn't the, best, dad, I guess. Um, and well, the thing is." Midoriya was stuttering and could barely get the words out, "He, well, he was not the nicest, per say. And he was in, you know, jail, and, um, he kind of, maybe, broke out not that long ago."

Midoriya refused to look up from the ground by the end, he was obviously embarrassed but what he was admitting and he even seemed scared.

All Might had frozen by the end. He guessed both problems had been answered, he didn't much like the answer though.

"I see." All Might mumbled before he buffed up, "THERE'S NO REASON TO WORRY THOUGH, YOUNG MIDORIYA. DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY? BECAUSE I AM HERE, AND I WILL HELP IN ANY WAY YOU NEED ME TO."

Midoriya panicked and started waving his arms around, "Ah! There's no need for that, I highly doubt he'd come anywhere near me. It was a little nerve wracking at first but I'm perfectly safe!"

"EVEN STILL WHAT I SAID STILL STANDS! HAVE A SAFE TRIP HOME MIDORIYA, I SHALL SEE YOU TOMORROW FOR HERO CLASS!"

Midoriya nodded, and said his goodbye before continuing his way out.

It's out! Finally, I'm so sorry! I thought I would have more time with COVID but I forgot that I also have college visits and applications. I've been swamped and for a short bit, I lost interest, but after reading tons of BNHA fanfics, I have it back. Therefore I'm going to try to update more. But I am an unreliable author. I will be continuing to write this book though, I'm not giving up till it's done.
