"Dad, why do we just watch .. why can't we ever be a hero" A small ten year old boy asked, his small hazel eyes stared at his father who sat on his normal arm chair.

"Mathew, our family has always been watchers of life. We can join the fight, become soldiers and so much more but we must not be the leading hero. We have to watch over the leading hero's of each generation .. we must follow the given rules if we wish to know the knowledge we have been given" Sam replied in a caring voice, placing his book down on t he side table while looking to his son.

"but why, we know the secrets to life and death .. we know the truth to all. We could use our given knowledge to help the rest of the human race" Mathew asked and his dad lifted his son, placing him on his lap while his eyes sadden.

"What is right and what is wrong ... we are humans meaning we have heart, we feel just like everyone else. But how do we know what is right and what is wrong when the times come to it. We can decided a side but we must let fate decided the victor ... If we step in using the power of the knowledge we were given then we are cheating fate. A watcher job is to watch, we can't pick a fate without being unfair to those who were given a single chance .. a chance we would have taken from them" A small voice spoke, bright hazel eyes looking to her brother and dad as she stepped towards them, her long hazel hair bouncing with each step.

"Your sister is right, I understand how hard this must be my son but we can not chose a winning side. Our family has always been watchers and if we become the hero's of the story then we become unfair to fate. We take away the chance each person is given ... you were given a chance to live a normal childhood or become a watcher, you must not try to be the hero" Sam explained looking to his son, his seven year old daughter standing the chair looking to the males of her family.

"But, what if the evil side wins. We could have stopped them" Matthew frowned, looking down to his lap.

"Fate decides not us" The sister answered, an approved nod from had dad showing she understood the rules.

"But what if Fate is wrong" Mathew sulked back, crossing his arms.

"Then the hero of the generation will fix it, Mathew my son, please never break the rules each watcher is given or your soul will never be welcomed to heaven" Sam warned, concern in his eyes.

"I chose my fate" Was all Mathew said before jumping down from his dad leg and leaving the small office.

"He is a watcher dad, he knows the given path. Have faith in him" The daughter muttered as she looked to the doorway she last saw her brother leaving.

"I have faith in your brother and I trust you Katie, but I fear your brother hasn't sacrificed his heart to being a watchers. Every since your mother died by this war, he started thinking of ending the war himself .. he was always more attached to his mum then me and now no one can warn him of the effects of being a hero when a water" Sam frowned and looked to his daughter before lifting her to his lap.

"Mum never agreed with your watcher ways, not even till her last breath when the effects of war reached us in the old camp. But she also understood a watcher job, she knew someone had to be a watcher and she could trust us to protect everyone given fate .. I just hope brother will understand that one day" Katie frowned slightly, her eyes falling to her lap.
