I woke up on the floor of my living room. It was pretty bare. A sofa and a table. I didn't have much to bring with me. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes as the morning light seeped into the room. I needed curtains too. My phone rang and I jolt awake.
"Hello!" I said trying my best to sound awake.
"Heya sis, I was starting to worry because you didn't call me last night so I decided to check up on you. Did you have breakfast? It's a nice Saturday morning, make sure you eat your fill." Jason's voice chimed from the other side.
I sighed and rubbed my temple. "Yeah yeah, I'll go shopping today to grab some things, I was just getting ready."
"Oh okay, cool. Sorry for bothering you—"
"No no! You can call whenever. It's okay, really." I interrupted and there was a pause.
"...Ah, alright. I'll keep in touch. Laters sis,"
"Bye,"
I got up and headed over to my room, I managed to get my wardrobe built and hung in most of my outfits. I still needed quite a few things. TV, pots and pans, food, a bed, a bike and some textbooks. I listed them down on a piece of paper, got dressed and headed out. As soon as I headed out, I looked around to see if any of my neighbours were around and thankfully no one was wandering the hall. I pulled my sunhat down covering my face and scrambled down. My first trip to the store without anyone bossing me around, maybe this will be fun.
On my way to the store I saw Veve sneaking around a condo apartment, I decided to ignore her because honestly she seemed like a lot of bad news.
"Psssst"
I spun around, looking for who was calling but also trying to avoid the eyes of Veve. Only to turn around to see Veve standing straight up in my face. I blinked. "H-Hi...Veve?" I stuttered.
"Whoaaaa, you do talk! And you sound. Super cute too! Stay away from Cenna 'kay?"
"Huh um okay?" I said and started walking back into the direction of the store. I wonder what she was doing around that condo, it looked shady but at the same time I didn't want to get involved.
I got to store and decided to grab some groceries first. It was a small shop but with a big name, back home everyone talked about how the foods at Food Complex were special and they only sold the high quality stuff. I started going through the oranges and saw this huge juicy bright one, force of habit I leap forward.
"Hey, this is mine."
I froze, looked at my hand to see it on top another pale hand, it looked masculine, but with rings and a small skull tattoo around the beginning of the thumb, I felt my face heat up and immediately pulled away.
"I am so sorry," I squeaked and turned away, trying to get away as fast as my short legs could take me, which wasn't really fast for I was only 5'3. The guy caught up with so much ease it was actually scary, he grabbed my wrist with one hand and chin with the other, inspecting my face. I shut my eyes and stopped breathing. I was scared.
"Weird, I haven't seen you around here before," He finally said, letting go shoving his hands into his jean pockets.
I looked up at him, trying to get a good look at the man that almost tired to molest me. Black shaggy hair, cross choker, v neck tank and ripped jeans with what looked like combat boots. In other words, he was trouble. A whole lot of chains and piercings and trouble. I felt my skin turn white.
He grabbed my face again and I froze. "You okay?" He whispered. I blinked and looked at him, his eyes were clouded with concern, not mischief. My eyes wandered from his blue eyes to his lips leading to the chain which connected to his ear. He was really hot. I needed to say something.
"Y-Yes, I'm okay..." I whispered finally and he let go. I finally exhaled, I forgot I was holding my breath. I couldn't help but notice how minty his breath smelled. I looked away, blush creeping up my cheeks. "I'm Ange...I'm new to the neighbourhood— "
"Ohhhhh, you're the new girl. We go to the same collage I think, or that's what Hella told me," He mumbled to himself.
"Hella...?" I questioned.
"Helen, you know the manager for the Hell complex," He said with a smile. His lips were so perfect.
"Oh...Haha, did you give her that name on your own?" I couldn't help but smile slightly, he was just so warm to talk to.
"Yeah, because she can be the devil at times, I'm Jasper by the way. You can call me Jas." He smirked and stole my sunhat, just to tousle my hair. "I don't do well with the sun so I'm gonna borrow this as a trade. Laters Ange," He said and wandered off to wherever he came from.
I did the rest of my shopped and headed to the checkout.
"That's a very nice orange you got your hands on Miss," The cashier commented. I blinked and looked at my bag immediately noticing the orange me and Jas met over. I sighed and rolled my eyes, that little devil.
My next stop was the furniture shop, I needed a TV and a bed. I went to the bed section, skimmed through the bedsheets. I wasn't sure if I wanted a single or double bed frame. I mean I was living alone but then again what if I decided to have friends over. But then it would be smarter to just get two single beds for each of the bedrooms. But having a double bed means more room to lay around...I glared at the bed frames deep in thought.
"Why would you need a double bed?"
I spun around to Veve standing behind me.
"You live alone so why the double bed? Omg, are you like gonna have guys over? Whoa, my new neighbour is like a slut?! You can like have people over though just like don't let Cenna on that bed." She said sweetly. I stared at her, shocked. She wasn't like this when I saw her in the train with Cenna. She just called me a slut, what.
"Okay listen up you. I have no interest in you're friend." I mumbled, trying to maintain myself. She looked at me and rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, have fun on that double bed."
I turned beet red and stomped off a few steps only to end up sprinting away. She was so rude, I wasn't even going to get the double bed! Okay Ange, forget her. Next you need is a TV so go to that section. I thought to my self and speed walked into the TV aisle, bumping into someone I fell back on my butt. I looked up to see Cenna staring aimlessly at one of the TV screens. I stood back up and brushed my clothes.
"Hey nerd, watch where you're going..." I grumbled.
"Okay. But why are you so cranky?" He replied, eyes still fixated on the TV screen. I turned my head, looking at the TV he was staring at. Painting techniques were being shown. I rolled my eyes, painting, who needs that. The only important thing in the world is math and science. I looked away from the TV and suddenly took a step back. Cenna was staring directly at me, less than a foot away, I looked up at him which was painful because he was probably like 6 feet tall.
"You don't have to answer the question. Anyways I have work to do. Goodbye." He stated and walked away.
I blinked, confused. "Whatever...You all are just my neighbours, we don't have any connections." I mumbled to myself and went back to picking a TV. The next thing I needed was a TV plan. There was an adult plan with mainly adult content channels, a kids plan, aesthetic plan, family plan and a horror/supernatural plan. I looked over each description. Gosh why wasn't there a learning plan...
"Horror plan,"
I tilted my head back to see Jas standing behind me, looking down. What was with people sneaking up on me today, but I was used to it by now. Somehow seeing Jasper made me warm.
"Weren't you going home?" I asked, head still tilted.
"Nah, not with Veve the creep wandering the land. Plus I needed to return this to a certain someone," He said with a smile, placing my sun hat on my face.
"Oi, I can't see." I pouted.
I couldn't see but I felt his breath as he leaned in next to my ear and whispered "That sounds like a you problem Sergeant, anyways laters." I heard his steps fade away as I sighed. I lifted the hat off, clicked "Horror plan" and headed home.
