You don't understand what he was saying. You were reaching out to nothing? No. There was a man in the small wind tunnel. It was loud. Wasn't it? Your mind seems to rush a million miles per hour. You think back to years ago. When strange things started happening back then you didn't take any notice. You didn't add any of them up until it was too late. By that time there had been nothing, or so you thought, you could do.
Uncharacteristically, water builds up in your eyes and you begin to shake. Your body doesn't know what to do with the fear it has built up. So it let's it out in silent tears. You want to hide your face from Severus, not wanting him to see you in such a vulnerable state once again. But you cannot. Your limbs are too constricted to move.
"Severus Snape and Stella Rose! What a delight to find you!" Anger rushes through your body and switches your fear and crying into absolute rage.
"Lockhart." Severus spits not even glancing in the man's general direction.
"Room for one more it looks like!" Gilderoys booming voice draws attention. Sitting down, he scoots into the bench next to Severus, so he is now staring straight at you. "Oh dear Stella! You look-well, you have looked better."
"Shut your mouth." Severus turns now to the prideful lug. Gilderoy doesn't even turn to acknowledge Severus and instead laughs. You keep your mouth closed, knowing that if you open nothing good will come out.
"Excuse me," a timid voice comes in, a stark contrast to the booming voice of Gilderoy Lockhart. You look up and see the small stature of Professor Quirrell. The anger you had boiling inside seems to calm a small bit. There is something about Quirrell that seems to bring tranquility to everyone around.
"What is it Professor?" Severus barks, obviously annoyed by the continuous interruptions. You scoot to the end of the bench, giving room for Quirrell to scoot next to you. As he moves in next to you, the calm face looks at you seeming to look past your face and into your eyes. He raises an eyebrow noticing that something is up. You quickly look away. To your surprise, Quirrell pats your arm and gives it a reassuring squeeze then pushes no more.
The men begin to talk but you never check in. You don't even care to take the curtesy of looking at them and pretending your paying attention. Your mind is somewhere else as you stare out the window. It has begun to rain quite hard. The drops pound on the glass windows making a calming rhythm of sound. You think back to what you say. Or what you think you saw. Maybe if didn't really happen. Maybe you didn't really see a small circling wind of snow. Maybe it didn't have a hidden man there. But Severus did say you were reaching out to something.
So what was it? A shiver shoots through your body thinking about the possibilities that these feelings you have felt before create. A heat wave rushes throughout you head to your toes. You can feel your heart begin to pound. Your head becomes fuzzy.
Before you become immobile a soft hand grabs yours. "Miss Rose," Quirrell begins, "don't you agree that we should get back to Hogwarts?" You look up suddenly at Quirrell and he gives you a knowing nod.
"Yes, I was thinking that, yes." Your throat is groggy but you push it out. Whatever just happened, you want to be in the safety of Hogwarts to try and figure out what it could be.
"Right them my kin, let us get going!" Lockhart's loud, annoying voice declares. As per usual everyone follows him without question, though Severus gives you a few questioning looks.
You'll make time to speak with him later. Right now, you need to get back to Hogwarts and head to the library. You got to refresh on a few things.
