"What the fuck was that?" Calista screamed, slamming the door of the office furiously. Mateo had already caused so much chaos in the bank and she was absolutely livid.
"I don't trust Erebus still. I needed to prove to him that I'm in charge" Mateo replied, his voice emotionless. He had taken a seat at the main desk in the room, resting his feet on the table facing Calista, who looked like she was about to explode.
"That doesn't matter!" Calista exclaimed. "The whole point of giving him a second chance was to get assistance for us in the heist, not to have a competition to see whose dick is bigger."
By now, Calista had reached her boiling point. She threw her hands straight down onto the table, pens and paper crashing everywhere. "I don't care what you think about him, he's one of us now and the only thing that will change that, is if he steps out of line. We are all here for the same reason and that's to get the money and get out of here alive, copy?"
Mateo sat there with a smirk on his face. No words came out of his mouth, he just sat there staring daggers into Calista.
"Just, don't do anything else stupid..." Calista sighed, before turning her back on Mateo and walking swiftly out of the room, closing the door behind her.
The smirk quickly faded, his façade quickly dropping in his isolation. Calista had such a grip over him, but he knew he couldn't show weakness to her at all.
Reaching towards his hip, he grabbed a six chamber revolver from his holster. Reaching into his other pocket, he pulled out a small scrunched up piece of paper. As he unfurled the paper, a single bullet fell out of it. He loaded this solitary bullet into one of the gun's chambers, spun the cylinder, and quickly flicked the cylinder back into place. The gun was loaded and Mateo had no clue where the bullet was.
Turning his attention to the open paper in his hand, a gentle smile appeared on his face. The paper depicted a photo. Specifically, a photo of a couple laying on a beach with the caption "stay strong, Calista x" This picture held the key to Mateo's heart, this picture made him lower all of his inhibitions, this was the one weakness he couldn't show anybody, not even Calista.
He laughed, before scrunching up the photo once more and putting it back in his pocket. The revolver in his hand feeling heavier by the second...
He turned the barrel towards his chin. His twisted mind working in a way that only he could understand. With a short gasp of air, he pulled the trigger...
*click*
Nothing happened. Nothing but the small click of an empty chamber cycling round. Mateo had tested his luck, and he had succeeded.
He returned the revolver to his holster whilst rising from the chair. Fate had forbidden him from passing. Mateo smirked once more, the realisation creeping across his face.
If fate didn't end his journey just yet, then he knew what he had to do... Mateo gathered his thoughts and made his way towards the closed door of the office.
Opening the door, he was confronted by a powerful smack of cold air. Mateo took a breath, before closing the door behind him and walking back towards the focal point of the bank. The lobby...
