Charlotte's POV-
There are moments in our lives that seem to define us. Moments we keep going back to. It was him. My best friend, Henry Hart. I've known for 12 years. Our story starts at the end of Senior year. Where everyone was stressed about finals and get packed for college much less getting accepted into the right one. Mine, was Yale. My dream school. I had my life so perfectly planed out. Henry's was unpredictable. He doesn't even know if wants to go to college or not. None the less we still got invited to a party. All the seniors were invited. I didn't want to go but Jasper and Henry Forced me. As usual. We were walking inside. Henry knew this wasn't my scene so he walked right behind me. Making sure I was okay and that..that was where the trouble began. His kindness. I was kinda the odd one, I mean Jasper was odd but at least he went on dates. I'm the only one in our friend group who is still a virgin. Henry lost his to Bianca and Jasper well he lost his to chloe during a game of 7 minutes in heaven. Me I'm still pure, unadulterated, still a...kid I guess you can say. We walked in to a house that was blasting with music and was just filled with people we were already drunk. Vaping, smoking, doing drugs. Jasper, Henry and me never smoke, do drugs or drink. I mean that I know of. Henry's responsible unlike most boys.
Mya: Henry! Jasper! Charlotte! Come sit. Come on.
We went and sat down. Mya never talked to us before so this is weird. She was surrounded by 3 other boys and her best friend. Jayden, Noah, Jacob, and Cassie, I think their names are.
Mya: Okay...So guys..Truth or Dare?
Noah: What?
Mya: Truth or Dare?
Jayden: No
Noah: Noo
Charlotte: Isn't this a kids game?
Cassie: Not the way we play.
Jacob: Hey Charlotte? Truth or Dare?
Charlotte: Truth.
Mya: Craziest place you've had sex?
Charlotte: Um.
Henry Whispered in my ear.
Henry: You have to answer.
Charlotte: Uh, pass.
Cassie: Why it's an easy one?
I stayed silent.
Mya: Wait, are you a virgin?
She chuckled.
Henry: Just leave her alone..Mya.
Mya: Whatever.
Charlotte: I'll do dare.
Noah: Dare?
Jayden: I dare you to make out with Henry?

Charlotte: Uh, but he's...I'm done playing this game.
I walk away.
Henry's POV-
Jasper: Really, Jayden?
Jayden: What? I never she was never gonna do it. She's too..nerdy.
I get up and go find Charlotte. I saw her go upstairs. I follow her into a bedroom.
Henry: Hey.
I shut the door.
Charlotte: Hey.
Henry: Hey, I'm sorry about that...
Charlotte: It's fine. I just came in here to get away from everyone.
I walk over to her.
Henry: I get it. It's chaotic but you know do you wanna look back and say to everyone that you never went to a High School party?
Charlotte: I was aiming that way..yeah.
Charlotte's POV-
We both laughed and stared at each other. We both slowly inching towards each other and at the last minute he turned to my ear and whispered.
Henry: You owe me a dare.
He straightened up and then leaned in. Our lips touched. It wasn't a heated kiss. But it was enough to know how I truly feel about him. We pulled apart. We both smiled. My smile fades.
Charlotte: I have to go.
Henry: Wait, Char?!
I quickly get out of my house and headed home to think things through. This isn't good.
The Next Morning-
I woke up to the sound of my phone pinging. It was Henry.
Henry🤪: Meet me outside...
Charlotte⛅️: Look I don't want things to be awkward between us.
Henry🤪:They're not going to be. I promise. We're just friends. K?
Charlotte⛅️: K.
Henry🤪: So hurry up! I got a surprise for you!
Charlotte⛅️:You know my birthday is in 2 months right?
Henry🤪: I know, I just want you to know I care about you everyday of the year.
My heart did I triple somersault. Him saying that made me super nervous for some reason. He drove and drove and drove till we were in the woods. He stopped the car and looked at me.
Charlotte: Did you bring me out her to murder me?
Henry: Just come on.
We got out of the car and walked to a small pond. Wait a minute.
Charlotte: Henry Prudence Hart...is this?
Henry: It is. The place we met.
Charlotte: It all looks the same.
Flashback:
I was reading a book when a 6 year old blonde boy came and sat down next to me.
Charlotte: Who are you?
Henry: I'm Henry..Henry Hart.
Charlotte: Oh, your that kid that just moved here.
Henry: Yup.
Charlotte: If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing out here.
Henry: My parents and my 3 year old sister are sitting on a blanket eating right up the hill. You?
Charlotte: My mom and dad are fighting again.
Henry: I'm sorry. What are you reading.
Charlotte: The fault in our stars.
Henry: That's a really hard book to read.
Charlotte: I'm advanced. I love to read love stories.
Henry: I love love stories too. I get made fun of for it. True love doesn't exist so I wanna at least pretend it does in books. I guess.
Charlotte: Oh, well how do you know that?
Henry: Because I know.
Henry's Mom: Henry! It's time to go.
Henry: See tomorrow at school.
Charlotte: I guess you will.
End of Flashback...
Henry: You wanna swim.
Charlotte: Uh, no bathing suit.
Henry: Fine.
Henry took his shirt off and walked over to me. He then..pushed me in.
Charlotte: HENRY!
He jumped in right after.
Charlotte: I hate you.
We laughed.
Charlotte: Can I ask you something?
Henry: Do I even have a choice?
Charlotte: Who do you love the most in the world?
Henry: Easy..Myself.
I splashed him.
Charlotte: Of course you do.
We started moving closer to each other. We lean in but before our lips touch...
Charlotte: I thought you just wanted to be friends.
Henry: I don't we can ever be just friends.
We kissed. And kissed for a long time.
At Night-
Henry's POV-
Jasper: So you guys kissed.
I slushed him.
Jasper: Sorry. Jeez.
We sit down next to the campfire. All of the people from the party was there. Mya, Cassie, Jayden, and Noah. They brought a few other friends. I sit in the middle of Char and Jasper.
Mya: How bought we play a game of suck and blow.
Charlotte whispered.
Charlotte: What is that?
Henry: You try to pass the card with your mouth.
Charlotte's POV-
Mya and her group of friends start. Till it reaches Noah. He blows it off of his mouth and starts to lean in.
Charlotte: Yeah, uh, no.
Henry gets up and shoved him.
Henry: Dude, don't go there alright?
Noah: It's just a game.
They started fighting. Me and Jasper pull them apart from each other.
The Next Day-
Me and Henry snuck off to the library at night.
Henry: Hey you okay? You know from last night.
Charlotte: I'm fine.
Henry: Hey look.
He grabbed a book and started reading it. Of course it was a love story.
Henry: You can draw me from any death. You can draw me from anything I've most avoided. This. And the confusion of my thoughts. So that time fit for nothing. It's what I mean by you being the ruin of me.
Charlotte: Henry Hart you are not like other boys.
Henry: I'll take that as a compliment.
The Next Morning-
I woke up to 2 pings in my phone.
Henry🤪:Meet me at the lake.
Henry🤪:In 20 minutes.
I get ready and drive to the place where we met. Shockingly I didn't find him there but I did find a note. I picked it up and started reading it.
I've read hundreds of novels in my life. Most of them claiming that love was the center of the universe. That it could heal any damage inside of us. That it's what we need to survive.
