You tapped your fingers up against the table, waiting patiently for someone. As you watched the door open, your breath hitched quietly. There she was: your crush. With her perfect brown hair in a messy up-do, her rich chocolatey eyes, and a frown upon her face. That's the only thing you didn't like about her. She was always moody, especially to her co-workers. You hoped that you could maybe change that one day. You blushed as her eyes made contact with yours. It was as if she knew you were thinking about her again. You didn't see her confused look after you turned away. When you looked back at her, she was at the counter: serving customers. You sighed, longing to have an actual conversation with her. You were always too nervous to go up to her, even when ordering your drink and food. A drink was set down in front of you, startling you out of your thoughts. "Why don't you just go talk to her?", Zoey asked, getting tired of the way you would just stare at her and do nothing about it. "You know I can't, Zoey." You said, shaking your head. "You know how I act around her…" After the first time of you meeting Emma, you couldn't quite handle it well. You were always flustered and nervous around her, causing her to give you weird looks each time you were near her. "A love-sick fool?" You sighed giving a simple dip of your head, "precisely." She rolled her eyes, "still, you should try." She said right before walking away, leaving you to think.

You sighed, shaking your head at her request. When the time was right, aka Emma leaving for a minute, you stepped up to the counter and tipped a $5 bill into the jar before walking away. You didn't see Emma returning, looking at you, with a soft smile on her face.

You returned to Beanies with your now 14 day streak and ordered your favorite drink. Zoey was at the counter, giving you a pout, making you instantly know what she was gonna say. "Do it." She whined. You immediately rejected the idea, "no." She shook her head with a sigh. "Fine. If you wanna be lonely forever, go ahead." She waved, no longer caring about your dilemma, before leaving to get your drink. You sighed and rolled your eyes as you took out your phone. You didn't see Emma appearing from the back. "I'll take this." She said with a smirk. Zoey gave her a mildly shocked look. Normally she would never offer to do something, they'd have to yell at her to do it. "Uhm, okay." She said, walking away from what was now not her problem. Emma finished making the drink and returned to the counter. You were too focused on your phone to see them switch so when you looked up upon hearing a snapping of fingers, your heart practically stopped. "O-oh shit-, Em-Emma… H-hi, didn't- didn't see y-you the-there." You stuttered out. She let out a small giggle, knowing why you freaked out over her presence. "Hey." She greeted simply. "I was wondering…" You tried desperately to calm your breathing as she asked "...if we could hang out sometime…?" Your heart stopped again and you swore you were gonna have a heart attack. "Wh- wh- wh-" you took a deep breath, knowing that if you were to try and continue you would only sound like a broken record. "What? Why?" You asked. You were astounded. Your crush? Asking you out? wHaT tHe fUcK- If this was a dream, you didn't want to wake up.

"Well… I see you staring at me from time to time while trying to avoid me as well. I was confused until… well, I may or may not have walked past you and Zoey while you were having a conversation." Your mouth dropped. "Anyways," she said, quickly moving on from practically letting out your secret, "so I thought, what better way to get to know you than a date?" If your cheeks weren't flaring already, now they were. "I- u-um… o-of- of course!" You exclaimed, answering her question and making her laugh. You could hear your heart pound in your ears as she gave you your drink, your hands brushing slightly against each other as you took it from her hands. "Th-thanks.", "No prob." She said nonchalantly. "I can text you the deetz after my shift." She added on. "I- I d-don't have your- your n-number…" You pointed out. She glanced at the cup and nudged a bit towards it with a smirk. You turned it and it showed her number with a small heart next to it, causing you blush harder. "O-oh." You said, pleasantly surprised. "I'll see you later then?" She said, making it sound like a question. You nodded your head after you put in another $5 tip. "Cool." She said with a smile. You returned it but it came out more awkward than you intended it to. "B-bye…" You waved before you left with a grin on your face. "Finally!" You heard Zoey yell behind you. You winced and covered your face with the hand that wasn't holding your drink, causing Emma to laugh.
