“Hey, are you okay?” Hugo asked me worriedly.
Earlier, she was quiet in the car. She didn't know if she would ask him what she had just heard. So, she decided to keep quiet.
There's no place for me to ask that stupid question. I have no right to ask him because this is all just nothing for him. All I need to do now is get back to myself. I can't be like this. I am at a loss currently. No matter how much I encourage myself that this is just temporary, there's only one percent hope that it will be permanent soon.
“Hey!” She just tightened when she felt Hugo hold her hand.
She removed the hand that was resting on her hand, then smiled bitterly at him with a sigh.
“Hey, are you okay? You've been quiet for a while; what's wrong?” Hugo asked her.
“Yeah, I'm okay; don't worry about me. I'm just tired,” she lied.
“You looked okay earlier. Is everything okay?” Hugo asked again. She could see that he was apprehensive about her.
But there was a part of her that didn't want to believe what she saw in him. She finds it hard to believe every word that comes out of his mouth, every gesture because they might be untrue. Maybe she was just hoping for nothing. She wanted to ask Hugo, but her fears took precedence. The two of them were just getting started, and she would rather not ruin it.
She sniffed and sighed when she felt his hands again. She stared at it intently. It looks like it suits perfectly. She commented to herself, but she also immediately withdrew it because of what she had heard earlier. She looked up and was shocked to see Hugo kiss her hand. Although it was just a simple touch, it had a different effect on her.
“Are you sure?” Hugo asked her again.
“Yeah,” she replied, and then unbuckled the seat belt and got out of the car first.
When they were out of the car, no one spoke to the two of them. Her eyes were just staring around them; she couldn't bear to stare at him for long. She is confused, angry, and hurt at not knowing where to stand with how she feels now. As the man in front of her approached, she could feel his stares. Dangerous stares. Even when she wasn't looking at him, she could hear his crisp sighs from the corner of her eye.
“I'm going in. I'm late already. Go ahead and be careful when driving,” she said, avoiding his stares.
“Okay. I'll pick you up later,” Hugo once kissed her forehead.
Freaking heart! I said stop, right? She commented to herself. She did not answer him, but just turned her back on him.
Why does his simple move make my heartbeat so fast? What did you do to me, Hugo? Why do I like this? What do you have? Why do you think you can make me obey you?
When she decides to give her heart, then such issues will arise.
“Why do you fall so fast? That's why you're hurting,” she scolded herself.
“Hey! It's good you're here!” Jessie startled her when she finally got into the hospital.
Instead of answering her, she just went to the locker and got dressed. As the night deepened, there were more and more patients in the hospital. They became preoccupied with the successive influx of patients, so she temporarily turned her attention to the patients to be treated for food poisoning, usually children. At first, she was confused by the number of patients; she could not fully imagine that so many students were involved in food poisoning.
It's morning, but the number of patients has not stopped. Everyone is so busy with their own patients. So, she was shocked when she saw Hugo at the door of the station area of the hospital. She was supposed to go there, but she was shocked when the injured patients entered one after another. She felt tired and awake when she calmed down during those hours.
