It took about an hour for the crowd to completely dissipate and return to their homes. Mercury went back to Tenor, and Gaia and I retreated to our quarters and could finally have an intimate moment together for the first time as newlyweds. We took our crowns off gently and sat them in corners of the room where we wouldn't run into them. We crashed into the bed as I began kissing her neck and caressing my hands past the velvet. She exhaled with a relieved whimper as she tried to put her fingers underneath my robe, and ended up scratching my shoulders in the process. I bit her neck gently, and caught hold of her necklace. I pinned her legs down with my knees, as I attempted to unbuckle it, and traced her skin with my tail.
"Mars," she stopped me. I looked up at her. "Don't take that off. You are more than welcome to take anything else off, just not that." I paused, and let it be, and just continued to nibble on her neck, as I whispered into her ear,
"As you wish."
My robe fell to the ground, and she took her arms out of the robe to unveil the lacy undergarments she had on. You can predict what happened that night between us, I won't go further into it.
After we were finished, I laid next to her, breathing heavily, while she smiled in a blushy stupor. I smiled back, and exhaled into a laugh.
"I love you, Gaia, so much." I turned my head to her and gazed into her eyes, her pupils dilated the biggest I had ever seen them.
"I love you too, Mars, more than you know." She gracefully fell on top of me and put her ear against my chest. "I could never stop listening to this heartbeat of yours." I smiled and began playing with her hair and my tail rubbing up her naked body, expecting to slow my heart rate down, but it only fell slightly. I still had this fear in the back of my mind.
"You'll always stick by my side, right, Gaia?" I uttered in my deepest, most raw voice I had ever enunciated.
"I wouldn't have married you if I wouldn't always be by your side, baby. I know you've got a lot on your mind, and know that as your wife, and as your Queen, and most importantly," she peered her eyes up to mine, "your best friend, I will always listen to you, provide counsel, and be there for you. I know what's on your mind, Mars. It won't be easy to kick him out of here. But you have to. And I'll be here the whole time." I smiled and kissed her forehead. She put her head back down on my chest. I grabbed her thick hair as tears fell down my face.
"As shall I, Gaia. Earth knows I need it."
"Everything will happen as it should, and I'll help you with it." She whispered into my slightly toned belly. Those words stuck with me that night. It helped me sometimes whenever I got too far into my head. Or whenever Jupiter got too far into it. Oh my, how I loved her, and oh how I love her now still after millennia of her gone from this physical plane.
*section break*
The next morning, all four eyes immediately glared at the ceiling. I had an excruciating pain in my stomach. I was completely covered in a fluid stained blanket and my wife, but I still shivered. The sun barely peeked through the window, just above the bottom blind. My bottom set of eyes glanced down at Gaia, and I started caressing through her hair again. Her top set of eyes opened with strained effort, they were slightly bloodshot and there was crust around her tear ducts. She turned her head up fully toward me, and I put my complete focus on her.
"You've got this. I can help you write the decree, if you want." Gaia offered. I smiled and nodded my head.
"I'm not ready for this, babe."
"I can't imagine anyone who would be." She murmured as she rolled off of me so I could get up and go out of my room. I open the door to find Jupiter standing tall and looking down on me.
"You're up early, Jupiter."
"As are you... your Majesty." He uttered with his teeth gritted and a slight head nod, mocking a bow. I squinted my eyes at the audacity he had. "In fact, I never slept. I was waiting on when you'd rear your head out from your bunker. Only to realize that you had your head...," he tilted to his right, past my head and looked toward my wife, "...elsewhere." He had a smug grin on his face.
"Leave her out of it. I've had a lot on my mind, Jupiter. I imagine, you can understand that." I puffed my chest slightly and looked him in the eyes. His eyes closed slowly, unamused. We silently stared each other down for what felt like ages.
"I'm sure you've certainly had a lot on your mind, Mars. You know where to find me when you're ready to use that authority of yours, granted so fairly." He emphasized while returning to his room and gently shut the door. There was a slight grunt behind the door. I rolled my eyes.
"What a fucking ass." I mutter to myself as I walk to the restroom.
