The two boys arrived hand in hand outside the burrow. Harry was the first to let go, walking quickly to the door.

Ron answered the door, sleepy eyed. "Bloody hell Harry it's almost two in the mornin'. What are you doing with..." His voice trails of as his eye catches Draco. "Malfoy?!" The screech rebounded of every wall in the house. Ron clamped a hand over his mouth looking wearily up the stairs. As he thought every Weasley, plus Hermione, came bounding down the stairs.

"Harry? What are you doing here? And with Malfoy." Molly said though yawns.

"I am so sorry to bother you all. We came here to talk to Hermione. It's really urgent." The two were ushered in, although everyone gave Draco sceptical looks due to the now purple bruises littering his head.

"What is it Harry?" Hermione asked as the three, plus Ron sat in the living area. The other had already gone back to bed.

Harry and Draco lifted their sleeves to reveal the marks. Apart from colour they were completely identical; they looked like two wands curling around eachother. Hermione gasped, pulling the arms closer to her ignoring the yelps.

"Oh my! I have read about marks such as these. This is the mark of Aeterni. It's an eternal bond between two witches or wizards, magically binding the two souls together for life. Although they haven't been seen since the days of Merlin the Great." The two sat there gobsmacked.

Of course Draco already knew this information, but coming from Hermione made it seem more real.

Harry however was on the verge of a breakdown.

"What do you mean bonded externally. We can't escape it." As soon as those words left Harry's mouth a sharp pain struck Draco's chest. He screamed out in pain, grey runes marking his forehead like Harry did earlier.

"Draco are you okay?" Harry said, shaking his shoulders slightly. Draco mumbled something incoherent, sweating buckets. Ron stared in shock. Hermione fetched Draco a glass of water, urging him to drink.

"Wait here. Let me go get something." She disappeared suddenly, returning with a tattered book. "I have had this for years. Dumbledoor gave it to me my first year at hogwarts. I remember reading about soul marks somewhere...AHA there!"

Her sudden enthusiasm shocked everyone. She was pointing to a paragraph labelled 'marks of the soul'. She began reading aloud.

"An Aeterni is the most powerful bond a witch or wizard can share. It is a symbol of immense power, beyond the talents of Merlin the Great. Although extinct for millennia, it is said that the slightest doubt in a mate causes the other pain beyond belief. In times of overwhelming emotion ancient runes will appear on the witch or wizard, which when deciphered will tell them the origin of their power. Traits of the Aeterni include possessive behaviour, animal like instincts and unfathomable power. Beware for these people can be most dangerous and unpredictable."

Ron looked as if he were about to faint. Hermione looked between the two in disbelief. Ron was the first to speak. "Harry, if this is true you and Draco are the most powerful wizards this world has ever seen."

Harry let out a shaky laugh, his eyes slightly dialated. This couldn't possibly be true. He looked at Draco who had the same look of disbelief.

"Well Harry, it looks like you are stuck with me." Draco laughed nervously, ignoring the pain in his back.

Harry looked into his grey eyes, searching for any of the hate he once harboured for the gryffindor. But he could find none of it. Instead it was replaced with a loving gaze.

Harry then did something that shocked everyone in the room.

Placing one hand on Draco's cheek and the other entangled in Draco's cold long fingers, he drew the boy closer and kissed him.

It was short and sweet, but enough to send tingles through both of their bodies. As they parted their marks lit up, casting an eerie light that filled the room.

"Wow." Harry whispered at the beauty of the mark.

Draco however could not take his eyes of Harry. His cheeks were slightly pink, his emerald green eyes glimmering in the faint glow. The mark on his arm was pure white, reflecting Harry's pure soul and inability to have an evil thought.

Ron caught Draco staring and cleared his throat. Draco then let out a small growl aimed at the red-head.

"What the bloody hell was that?"

"I- I don't know. I am so sorry." Harry stifled a laugh and looked at him fondly.

"Well the book did say that you may have animal tendancies. A lot of animals are very protective of their mate. Growling is a natural defence." Hermione was staring at the two in awe, completely starstruck. Possibly because she has helped discover an extinct species, possibly because she is watching the two fall in love.

Harry turns away from his friends to face Draco. There was a hint of mischief in his eyes. "I want to find out everything we can do. It said we had 'unfathomable power'. I want to know everything."

Draco nodded, a smirk coming onto his face. They stood up to leave but were stopped by a small but firm hand.

"You are not going anywhere. It is two in the morning. You will stay here and sleep." Neither dared argue with Hermione so they sat back on the couch. "Good. Now I am going to bed. See you two in the morning. Come on Ronald."

And with that the two were gone.

"What now?" Draco whispered as if to himself.

"We get to know eachother. We barely said a civil word to eachother growing up. I think now is a good time to start. Don't you?" Harry said with a wink.

For hours the two talked, laughed and cried together. They realised they shared many similarities in their childhood. For instance they were both in extremely toxic and abusive households. The mention of Harry's hardship made Draco growl again.

"I can't believe they would do that you." He said, his voice very low. Harry rolled his eyes and gave Draco a small smile.

"I moved into Black Manor at the beginning of fifth year. It has given me time to forgive them for all they put me through. Although I will never be able to step foot in a cupboard without thinking about them."

"At least you got to move out. I can barely leave the grounds. Dobby got me out, against my wishes. But now I am glad he did because I found you. I have loved you for a while Harry. I never wanted to admit it because I knew if my father ever found out he would beat me senseless. Well he already has," he runs his hand across his cheek to prove his point. "I just wish he would love me like he is supposed to. All I have ever wanted is to make him proud. Now he would rather see me dead."

Harry pulled the blonde into a warm hug. He melted into the embrace, allowing a wave of relaxation to hit him. He nuzzled into Harry's shoulder and was swiftly asleep. Harry giggled quietly at the soft snores. Gently laying Draco on the couch, Harry sat on the floor, grabbing a couple of couch cushions, and made a makeshift bed.

Before succumbing to sleep, Harry locked his hand into Draco's. Usually the sight would make Harry feel sick or awkward. But now he felt safe. At home.

And he loved it.
