I woke up the next morning. Sorry, let me rephrase that. I had been woken up by constant knocking on my bedroom door. I attempted to ignore the annoying sound by planting my head further into the pillows. I was so use to my bed back home in Grandma's that I attempted to venture further away from the hideous noise. By doing so I rolled off the small single bed. The covers were trapped around me. I cursed attempting to get the itchy cover off me because who ever was bloody knocking wouldn't hold up.
"Jesus can you hold on for a second?" I shouted finally throwing the annoying covers off me. I threw on my dressing gown and went to open the door. It was Maggie. No surprise there then. I held the door wider for her to come in. In my sleepy state I was so pissed off with her. I kicked the bed. Might I just say the part I kicked was wood. Very hard wood. I shook my food attempting to ease the pain. Of course Maggie was stood there giggling at my expense. I glared at her and glanced towards the alarm clock which I forgot to set. Even after the many texts Maggie had sent me to remind me. It was twenty to nine.
"I just knew I would have to wake your grumpy arse up." Maggie said putting my crappy covers back on the bed. I rolled my eyes at her know it all attitude and got dressed. Maggie was cleaning my room whilst I was getting ready.
I thought back to my interaction with Maggie and Lance yesterday. Even the thought of Lance made my skin crawl. I shivered at the thought of his face when he basically called me a freak. This made me recall my further abnormalities. My eyes. I didn't know what was wrong with them. I had meant to talk to Maggie but I wasn't in the mood.
"What was wrong with my eyes then?" I finally get around to asking Maggie. I was packing my bag with copies and pens. Who knew what I would need for this school. Perhaps it would be old fashioned and we'd have to wear armour. The thought of sword fighting sounded awesome. The way they move in the movies didn't appear to be realistic . It looked like a dance more than a fight. But what would I know? I had never been in a sword fight. I defiantly couldn't dance.
Maggie was then folding my clothes. God damn she could act like a mother at times. She sighed and looked up at me. "Skyler," she hesitated. "You are going to have different changes compared to everyone else. Your eyes are unnaturally bright as it is during the day time, now at night they glow."
Glow. My eyes bloody glow. I couldn't believe it. You would think that I would freak out about the speed and strength that I have but no. My eyes glow like a damn were wolf. I swear if my body starts to grow abnormal hair I will lose my shit. My breathing became a lot heavier. Great a panic attack is welcomed.
"Calm down! Jeez it's not a big deal! God Skyler chill out!" She kept telling me, trying to calm me down. I think it just freaked me out even more.
"Chill out? Maggie you had years to prepare for this fecking change! I hadn't any notice at all!" I ran my hands threw my bed head brown hair. It was sticking up all over the place. Her face softened and patted the bed. I stumbled over and sat down. She began to brush my hair. I relaxed instantly. It was like having a massage.
"It's too early in the morning for this." I mumble closing my eyes.
"Well we have History now." She softly reminded me. My eyes sprang open and turned to look at her. She wasn't joking. I sighed and got up. Off to history we go. Hey ho ho.
We were late. As usual. But this time it was my fault that we were late not Maggie's. Also this time I didn't particularly care and she was frantic. I could have been there in seconds if I ran but Maggie was so slow with her human speed. We sprinted the hallways which were completely empty. This was extremely odd. There's usually a few people who are tardy and go to their lockers or want to ditch class.
