Beomgyu walked back to the classroom and approached Heejin slowly.
Beomgyu: Heejin, can I talk to you for a bit?
Heejin nodded and excused herself from the students. She followed Beomgyu outside the classroom.
Beomgyu: A girl from your middle school who was your classmate said she was your trusted friend. Her name is Kim Hyunjin.
Heejin: Huh?
Beomgyu: She said she has something she wanna talks to you about. What are you going to do? Will you meet her?
Heejin thought for a while before nodding. Beomgyu then leaded her to the rooftop, meeting Hyunjin and Yeonjun already stood there, waiting for her.
Hyunjin: Heejin.
Hyunjin faced her.
Hyunjin: Please listen to what I have to say. I really wanted to apologise, no matter what.
Heejin: Apologise?
Hyunjin looked at Yeonjun who's now staring at them then looked back at Heejin.
Hyunjin: The reason why she had a memory lost... was all because of me. The cause was when Yeonjun was about to transfer.
[Flashback]
Heejin, Hyunjin and Yeonjun were friends when they were middle school students. Yeonjun was going to transfer to another school.
"Yeonjun will be transferring to another school." The teacher announced as Yeonjun stood beside him with a sad expression.
"Hey." Hyunjin nudged Heejin. "Did you know about this?"
"I didn't." Heejin shook her head. . . . . "He's going to Busan, he said. What will you do?" Hyunjin and her friend chatted, not far away from Heejin who's taking her belongings before going home. "Hyunjin, shouldn't you confess to him already?"
Meanwhile Heejin received a message from Yeonjun.
Yeonjun Can we possibly meet tonight?
Heejin thought for a moment before replying back.
Heejin Okay
Time skipped to the night Yeonjun met Heejin infront of the school.
"I have always loved you, Heejin." Yeonjun confessed. Heejin didn't respond because she never thought about her feelings towards Yeonjun. She told Yeonjun that she will think about it before giving him her answer.
However, some girls from their class happened to see the two of them together. Just like that, the rumour spread around like wildfire. The girls started to ignoring Heejin, including her bestfriend, Hyunjin.
After things have settled down, there was a festival held at that time during winter. Hyunjin and her friends decided to go.
"Wahh it's so pretty! Let's take a picture!" Hyunjin's friend take out her phone. Before she snapped a photo of Hyunjin, she spotted someone.
"Isn't that Yeonjun?" She pointed at Yeonjun who's waiting near a pole with his hands inside his pockets. Hyunjin turned to look at him.
"You're right. I wonder why he's here." Hyunjin said but then she spotted someone walking towards him. "Heejin?"
Her friend also turned to look at her. "So that's how it is. She really had the nerve!"
Before Heejin could approach Yeonjun, Hyunjin's friend pulled Hyunjin to block her way.
"We absolutely won't let you pass though." She said. "Come on. Say something too, Hyunjin."
"I thought you were my friend." Hyunjin spoked. "You only got to him first!"
Heejin started to teared up then ran away from them. She ran across the street but before she knew it, a car ran over her.
Heejin felt the familiar pain on her head making her stumbled. Her memories started to get mixed up and everything was so unclear.
Beomgyu: Heejin?
Beomgyu walked towards her and put his hand on her back.
Hyunjin: I've always... wanted to apologise to you. I'm really sorry!
Hyunjin bowed 90 degrees infront of Heejin. Heejin just hang her head low, tears welling out.
Yeonjun: Hyunjin... *walks towards her* You can go home. I'll lead you till ground floor.
Hyunjin looked at Heejin for the last time before following Yeonjun towards the door, leaving Heejin and Beomgyu alone.
Beomgyu hesitated for a while before holding Heejin's hands.
Beomgyu: It's okay. You're not alone anymore.
Beomgyu gave a reassuring smile. Heejin looked up at Beomgyu with teary eyes. Then she looked down again and let her tears fell.
Heejin: I've always been by myself. Just when I thought of her as a friend.. I didn't know what to do anymore. *sob* I just wished Monday wouldn't have to come. That's what I always felt those times.
Beomgyu: I see..The reason you lost your memories. It was all so you could protect yourself. But you're going to be alright now. I will protect you from now on.
Beomgyu let go of her hands and wrapped his arms around her, embracing her.
Beomgyu: I... about you, Heejin...
Heejin: I remember now..
Her eyes widened as she felt her memories are now so clear. Beomgyu stopped what he's about to say.
Heejin: That day.. I said I would be coming to give him a response.
[Flashback]
Heejin was waiting for her mom infront of the school building. She felt her phone buzzed inside her pocket so she took it out.
Yeonjun I'll be returning to Busan when Christmas ends. I'd like to hear your response before I go back.
Heejin I understand. I will definitely be there.
But that night when she was about to tell Yeonjun her answer, Hyunjin and her friend stopped her. And that's when the car crashed happened. Yeonjun waited all night for Heejin to come but she never did.
Heejin: Why did I forget something like that?
Heejin sobbed,her lips were trembling.
Heejin: I want to see Yeonjun.
Heejin said in between her sob, making Beomgyu's heart dropped. He slowly let go of her.
Beomgyu: I see.. *smiling bitterly* It all came back to you. I'm so glad you remember now.
Beomgyu looked away, still keeping that smile on his face.
