Aunt Carol sighs "You're doing it again". I notice she was staring at me the whole time, "D-Doing what"?

"Daydreaming. You know that it's not allowed. I always let it slide but, in the real world, you are going to have to grow out of it, Olga". I blink in shock. Those words were the realest ones she's ever said to me. "O-Okay, sorry."
"It's fine, dear. Maybe the Procedure will straighten you out".

A cold chill goes down my spine. She knows how terrified I am of it, but today that's all I'm going to be thinking of. "When a person comes of age, 15 and 6 months, we start to prepare them for the Procedure. The first step is the Evaluation. The second is the Screening. The last one is the Procedure or as we like to call it, The Perfection."

There is so much riding on my Procedure. If mine goes like my sisters', the whole family will be relocated and shunned by Society. You don't want to be shunned by Society. We learned about relocated people in school.

"They're animals. Fiends. Not to be trusted. Infected."
