Barbeque

I got invited to a barbeque party by one of my friends whom I admire and look up to, because he had been there for me whenever I needed to. As much as I despised socializing I hated the sad look on his face if I rejected. I will be fine, I had a strategy, I'll be always closer to him and smile at everybody. Conversations were not required just a little trick of the brain would do. I was planning a whole do's and don'ts list in my mind when I reached the venue.

A small farmhouse was brightly lit as if lights had been left untouched after Christmas. Faint music was heard which gradually got clearer and clearer as Jin walked up the garden to the door. The door opened widely startling Jin a little. Jimin hugged him putting his whole weight on Jin.

''Are you ready to grill?'' jimin asked

''What'' jin shocked at the sudden task assigned.

''Take this'' he was handed a bottle of beer.

''Okay'' he smiled a little

Giving a proud smile, he said," I am so happy you came, let me introduce you to my friends. Guys this is jin and jin this here is.."

''Jimin where are the glasses and plates ''

A man came running, he was in a green apron and had long curly hair which complemented his face perfectly.

''Oh wait I forgot let me check real quick'', he hurried towards the cabinet.

Jin left alone in the battlefield, was revising his strategies at the last moment. Mumbling to himself at the songs that were being played he took a sip of the beer he held in his hand and forced himself to put a faint smile. He sat down in one of the sofas gulping down whatever was left in the bottle. He observed everyone slowly not maintaining eye contact. There were pretty men and women some singing some flirting and others having engaging conversations. Everyone seemed too friendly and that drained his energy. His face began burning up with anxiety.

He wanted to run behind his friend and help him rather than sit here and be awkward. At this rate he would never come out of his comfort zone.  After having a mind battle he decided to get up and go in the kitchen where he last saw Jimin.

''Jimin is outside grilling meat''. A voice said softly.

Jin gave a questioning look

''You were looking for him, right?''

''Yeah, how do you know.''

''I saw you there, would you rather help out here than have fun?''

''I was not really having fun back there, I don't actually like parties.''

''Are you here for the food?''

''Do I look like a foodie to you?''

Both laughed a little. Jin saw tae's cute boxy smile and was tempted to compliment him. But he refrained himself.

In the lawn

''I talked to someone'' he excitedly told Jimin

''Congratulations, well who is it?''

"Tae''

''Oh he's a good kid, also he has the same birthday as you.''

''Okay what am I supposed to do with that information?'' Jin asked raising his eyebrow a little.

''I am just saying  that he is a complete opposite of you''

''Okay so do you think that all Capricorn would be same? Some can be different while others similar''

Jin huffed after his speech.

''You are an oldie, don't get too serious. I was just joking"

''I know, but I know what you are trying to do '' Jin said playfully hitting the other.

''huh?'' Jimin gave a questioning look.

''Jimin, it's my personality I have always been like this, can you accept me as it is?''

Keeping a reassuring hand on his shoulder , ''Jin, I know that, but you should be honest with yourself, you want to make friends and be confident and live life fully. This is not possible if you are afraid and anxious all the time, i know how you feel, we can take one day at a time and you will be happier. I want nothing more, i just want you to be happy.''
