"Mommy, are you making pancakes?"

I look around and see my mom wearing a white dress and she's smiling. And there is sunlight coming in, making the house look brighter. It looks so perfect, I can even hear birds chirping outside.

"You love food, don't you, Smally?"

I look and see Lema smiling too and she is also wearing a white dress. They both look happy.

"Come here, angel."

Mom says while sitting on the couch next to Lema.

"We both love you. Now and forever, to the infinity and beyond, we will always protect and guide you, okay?"

I nod then shut my eyes close and hug both of them at the same time. I open my eyes and see dad coming through the door, then mom and Lema stop smiling and now there is blood coming from Lema's neck. Exactly where dad cut her and mom had blood coming out the side of her head and blood coming out her mouth too.

Then the background changes and we are in Lema's bedroom where they died. This time dad comes through the door and mom and Lema running towards me to cover me.

"Mommy what's going on?"

Mom lifts her head and looks at me.

"Elma, whatever you do, stay away from your father. We will fight him off so that he doesn't get close to you, but if he does...run Elma. Run!"

I wake up and see the grey sky, the weather also looks sad. I sit up and observe my surroundings, and it looks like I'm put on a stretcher outside an ambulance. I sit up and hear sirens and I also see alot of police men and women outside my house.

"Oh, you're awake. How are you feeling, missy?" a male says in a strong Australian accent.

I turn around and see a man wearing a red Paramedic suit. He must be the one who put me here...

"I'm okay... mommy said I shouldn't talk to strangers." I say whispering the last part.

"Oh my bad, do you know or remember what happened in there?" He says in full determination.

"I..."

I stopped mid-sentence and get all the flashbacks of what happened, and remember that my family is dead. I am alone. Mom and Lema left me, I'm so scared.

I start crying at the thought of having nobody and my mom and sister are now dead, and never coming back. I realize that I was just dreaming and that they were happy.

I miss them...

The man rushed over to me to give me a hug, he rubs my back just like mom.

"It's going to be alright, mate. Dont cry."

I know he said I shouldn't bit that's what mommy would've said and done. Tears start streaming uncontrollably even more out of my eyes.

A policeman comes towards us. He clears his throat, which makes the Paramedic guy let go of me.

"How is the little girl, Angus?" The policeman says in a British accent referring to me.

Oh so his name is Angus...

"She seems to be a little distraught and still in shock. Physically yes...she just needs some rest but mentally..." he looks at me with concern.

"...she needs some counselling. Trauma is a real thing officer." Both him and the officer laugh.

I don't get it..

The both stop laughing and look at me.

"Sidney is on her way here, they are both taking her to the Home. Atleast there, I know she will get proper Mental attention."

Home?? What Home??

"What are you talking about, this is my home." I chip in onto their conversation, then a flashback, of dad slapping me right across the face for talking while him and mom where talking, crosses me. Which makes me instantly apologize and cover my mouth.

"It's alright, love-" he says in a full blown British accent.

"...it's a great orphanage. I heard that they give you little kids chocolate pudding after dinner." He says while nodding.

"I do love pudding..."

I say remembering how mom used to make it for me whenever I felt sad. I fight back the tears that were about to come out of my face.

The officer and Angus chat away and I tune their voices out and look around my yard and see three bodies being dragged out in a stretcher and they are covered, head to toe, with a silver blanket thingie.

It must be them...

I try not crying but fail dismally, the tears come blasting out and my nose starts get runny. Angus tries hugging me again but I shrug him off as I wipe my eyes and nose. And remember how Lema always told me to never be a Crybaby or tattle tale.

A Matt-Black Mercedes H1 with tinted windows pulls up on my lawn. I get off the stretcher to have a better look. Then the doors slam open and a woman with her black hair in a tight neat bun, dressed as if she's going to a business meeting, and two men come out the van too.

One man is hold a huge camera and the other is hold a long stick with a puffy end that's hanging. It must be the mic.

The lady fixes her suit and the man holding the camera counts down from three to one.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I'm Kathy Smalls and I'm reporting live from the incident."

The woman says holding a small mic. She has got to be a news reporter.

"An incident has occurred where a teenager and her parents are found dead. Police say that it could be possible homicide, but it's not officially confirmed. The parents are both shot whilst the teenager is said to be dead from her throat being cut open, luckily there has been a survivor from all of this."

The woman says and her and her crew come closer to me and she faces the mic she's holding towards me.

"Who are you, and how did you survive all of this?"

I am stunned, why are they interviewing me?

"I'm Elma Smith, and they are my family..."

I feel a chill up my spin when I say "family".

"Did you witness what happened to your family, do you know who killed them?"

A police woman pulls me away from the most reporter and her crew as she stands in front of me.

"She won't be responding to any more of your questions Katherine. Leave her alone."

The reporter, Kathy, looks at both of us in disbelief. The policewoman holds my hand and pulls me towards a Shiny-Black Mercedes Benz car.

What's up with with Mercedes vehicles today...

She opens the door for me to enter the car, I first hesitate and see that there is another woman inside the car. I enter the car and the policewoman closes the door after me.

"Hello Elma, I'm Sidney, your social worker. I'll be taking you to the Home, I'm sure you already know..." She says trying to lock eye contact with me.

"Yeah, I heard only a bit about the orphanage." I reply in a soft tone.

"There is no need to feel shy around me, sweetie. I'm here to help just in case you wanna talk about what happened or if you want any help whatsoever...okay?"

I nod, and she smiled and looked away. We both were silent through out the whole car ride to the orphanage. I got caught up in flashbacks and thoughts of what just happened, I didn't even notice that we had arrived.
