We arrive at the orphanage, I won't lie it looks quite civil.
Let's hope the kids are civil...
"We are finally here, Elma." Sydney says enthusiastically.
The driver comes by my door and opens it for me before opening Sydney's door. We both get out of the car and stand on the pavement on the side of the road, in front of the orphanage then the drive takes out a suitcase from the trunk and places it next to me. I look at Sydney for confirmation and she nods at me then she gave the guy a hug before waving him goodbye to him as he gets in the car and drives off.
I look at her and notice that she blushing.
She must like him...
She looks at me then her facial expression changes back to normal. The dumb lovey Dovey expression disappeared before I could question it, it went back to her normal serious but yet still warm kind of expression.
"What's in the suitcase 'cause I forgot to go pack my clothes before coming here..."
"Oh...um-" she brings her attention back to me.
"...in here, are a couple of clothes and underwear to last you a week. I kind of packed some of my daughter's old clothes, and bought you a few pairs of underwear so that you can settle in well before we go back to your old house and get your clothes."
My heart sank again when she mentioned my home as "your old house". I have to keep my hopes high and positive in order to love my "new home".
Sigh.
Life won't be the same without my family.
We walk up to the orphanage door. I cross my fingers and hope that the kids here aren't mean. I heard stories about them and I just hope they aren't true.
Because I don't even know how to fight, let alone survive a bunch of angry kids...
Sydney rings the doorbell twice then a short blonde lady in a hideous floral brown and green dress comes to open the door for us. She looks a little too, um let me just say...informal than I expected.
"Sydney dear, thank God and the stars y'all are finally here!" the blonde lady says.
She sounds like a redneck. I never liked farmers, especially after watching the "Daylight-saving-time" episode of Teen titans Go. Them farmers kidnapped 2 o'clock and Old McDonald's dog B-i-n-g-o made me dislike Pitbulls for some reason too!
She is either pretending to be happy to see Sydney or me, cause I can see the disgust on her face... even under the thick layer of makeup she has on her face. She hates one of us, if not the both of us. I can see right through the big fake smile she has on.
"Don't just stand there, come on in. We don't want them nosey neighbors all up in my business, now do we?"
Sydney shakes her head and smiles. "Why you still caring about what they think?"
The Redneck (and yes, since I don't know who she is, that's what I'm calling her. Besides it suits her better) giggles then looks at me then back at Sidney again.
She steps aside to let both of us come in. I won't lie, this is totally not what I had in mind for an orphanage. This place looks amazing, it even has chandeliers! I was assuming it would be the Anne kind of orphanage.
I might end loving this place after all...
As we walk in the lady leads us to what I assume is the TV room. It is quite tidy and clean. This lady probably runs a tight ship. No mess, no stress kind. The lady offers us some juice and biscuits. We take a seat in the brown leather couches, and wait for the lady to come back.
