Love At First Bite

"Alright guys, question of the day." Miss spoke, as she wondered around the classroom, "Do you believe in love at first sight?" She added, stopping and leaning back against her desk.

It had been a few hours and we were now in, English.

"No." A voice spoke from the back, I didn't even have to turn around to know who it was.

"Why not, Mr Williams?" She asked Alexander.

Everyone turned around to look at him, including myself.

"How could you possibly know you love someone, just by looking at them for the first time? You can't, you have to get to know them as a person and what they're like to be able to love them. Love is a strong word, like at first sight? Yeah maybe, but love. Definitely not." He replied, all while looking at me.

Everyones eyes followed his gaze back to me, and my cheeks turned pink with embarrassment.

I glared at him, to which he just replied by smirking, in amusement.

I turned back round in my chair, Evie was sitting next to me, as we have English together.

"I believe in love at first sight." I voiced, earning the attention of the teacher.

"Oh! Would you like to tell us why, Miss Dorain." She questioned, still leaning back on her desk.

"Well you know when you look at someone, and you just know that they are your soulmate.
That you're supposed to spend the rest of your life with that specific person. That's love at first sight, take Romeo and Juliet for example. What they had was love at first sight, it was a shame that they were forbidden to be with each other, but they still managed to be together, because they knew they loved each other." I explained, fidgeting with my pen.

"Interesting point of views, from both Alexander and Savannah. I think you two will make great partners for the project we will be working on this year." She smiled.

I don't think so, Janet.

"Miss what project?" A random person asked.

"This year your project will be to, write a biography on your partner. That I will be choosing. You have to make this biography detailed, with as much information as you can collect." She answered.

Oh no.

"So the pairs will be..."

No

"Evie and Jaden."

No, no, no.

After a few minutes she finally got to me, and you'll never guess who I got paired with.

"And to finish off, Savannah and Alexander." She said.

Wow didn't see that one coming.

Students stood up and made their way to their partners, everyone except for me. I couldn't, it was like I was glued to my seat.

"Guess we're partners." I heard Alexander speak, as he sat down next to me.

"Guess so." I smiled, sarcastically.

"So love at first sight, huh?" He chuckled.

"What about it?" I questioned, crossing my arms and looking into his, beautiful, amber orbs.

"Nothing, it's just funny that you really believe in that bullshit." He answered, leaning back against the chair. Never losing eye contact.

"It's not bullshit, maybe if you actually had feelings you would understand. You seem so cold, when in reality I know it's a just wall you built so you can protect yourself. But, it's okay to be happy and to love." I said, reaching to grab his hand.

He pulled away, aggressively.

"You don't know anything about me, so stop acting like you do." He replied, standing up and storming off.

What?

Everyone stared at me, probably wondering what happened.

"Savannah." Miss spoke, I looked up at her, "You need to go get your partner." She said.

Rolling my eyes, I nodded and left to go look for him.

I had searched the entire school and still couldn't find him. Until I saw him, leaning against a wall, at the back of the school.

I made my way over to him.

"Hey." I spoke, he didn't turn to look at me.

"What?" He replied, blankly.

I sighed,

"Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you." I apologised, playing with my fingers.

"Savannah, I'm not mad at you. I just don't understand why you act like you know me. If you knew the real me, you wouldn't even look my way." He said, still not looking at me.

"I'm sure that's not true." I stated.

He turned his head to look at me,

"Trust me, it is." Was the last thing he said, before leaving.
