Marinette
It was raining alot this week. My forgetfulness is really getting to me, since I forget my umbrella somedays and have to run home in the rain. Today was one of those days I had forgotten my umbrella. I didn't bother to run today though because the day before, I fell in a puddle and slightly scraped my knee and the rain today was light, so it was hardly a hindrance but it was still in some way bothersome.
My clothes were clinging to my skin as I crossed my arms close to my chest in hope for warmth. Every time the wind would brush past me I couldn't help but shiver, as I was already drenched with water.
"Man, why do I have to forget everything...?" I whispered to myself. I was truly angry. My clumsiness is a curse I have to live with on a daily basis. I always wished I was more like my mother. She was always graceful, delicate, and steady with her movements. My mother has offered to help me become less clumsy. I gladly took up the offer because I was a teenager now, and I find that teenage years are the years you should reinvent yourself and try to become better.
The rain had began to drop more and more, little by little. I began to quicken my pace. I did not want to be sick next week. I already had poor attendance in middle school, so being sick on the first week of high school wouldn't do me any good.
As I walked my mind wondered to a certain memory. My bully was at the park the week before, and had talked about something that peeked my curiosity.
My bully, Chloe, has been very excited about something and it's not about her father getting something expensive or how she plans on ruining my day completely once school starts. It was about someone other than herself.
Apparently we are getting a new student. She went on and on about this student. His name was "Adrien" and she was babbling about him and how they'd be together someday to others.
This is going to be an interesting year. I wonder if she only likes him for the amount of money he has or if he's are a snot like her. It could be both, honestly.
The thought of another tormentor made me cringe.
I hated the thought of another one. My fists began to clench as I bit my lip, my eyebrows arched down thinking about it...thinking about it...thinkin-
I stopped walking to better my mood. I took deep breaths. I usually became clumsy when I was getting irritated or panicky. "Three deep breaths..." I told myself as I closed my eyes. I let go of my lip and calmed my face, taking away the irritated form of my eyebrows. I let my hands loose...
"Inhale...exhale... Inhale...exh-"
I stopped as I was startled by something. The cutest thing in the world had rubbed it itself against my leg. A black cat.
I smiled down at it as it purred and meows at the satisfaction of rubbing itself against my leg. I didn't understand why it liked doing that now. My clothes were soaking, so I'm sure the feeling isn't quite the same as with dry clothes.
It continued to go back and forth, purring in satisfaction. I giggled at it's goofy smile. It was cute, a cat's smile. Cat's are very stubborn from what here from many cat owners, so I felt proud it had taken a quick liking to me.
I slowly reached down my hand, crouching slowly, so I wouldn't scare it away. To my luck, it wasn't bothered with me doing this. It looked at me in anticipation. It's tail curling back and forth. I began petting it for a good while, as it gave the biggest grin. Goofy but lovable grin. It's blue eyes shined so beautifully. "What a beautiful cat you are." I told it. It mowed in happiness at my comment.
Suddenly, it's head turned in alert. Maybe it saw a mouse, I thought. I proceeded to try and pet the cat, but it ran in the direction it had looked in. I was a bit upset I wasn't able to pet it more, but cats will be cats. I smiled at it as a mouse ran away from the cat. I chuckled a bit. Cats are interesting animals.
I turned away from the cat. I took one step just to be startled by seeing something on the ground, groaning. I squinted my eyes in hope of getting a better look at it, as the rain made my vision a bit foggy.
I began to slowly walk towards it, only to see it was an old man. I began to observe him a bit. He was a small old man. He was Asian and wore a Hawaiian shirt. I saw a cane quite the length from himself. Every time he tried to grab it, he curled back in pain. "Oh no! I'm so sorry I hadn't helped you a bit sooner, sir!" I said as I rushed to his cane. I slowly and gently raised him from the ground, not wanted to further his pain. I handed him his cane, feeling stupid for just staring at him and not helping right away.
"It's quite alright, young one." He said, as he smiled gently at me. I couldn't help but smile back at him. From the corner of my eye, I saw I red umbrella flowing away. It must've been his. " Um, just a moment, sir." I said as I hastily made my way to his umbrella. I grabbed it and returned it to him. He grabbed his umbrella and thanked me for my kindness. "It was no problem, sir. Please be more careful." I told him. He nodded as he parted ways with me. I smiled feeling proud of myself, but that moment was short-long lived as the rain began to shower. "Damn..." I cursed to myself, running the rest of the way home.
