(Y/n) = Your Name

She's not all that great. As a matter of fact, she's the worst. Look at that sickening, perfect smile on her face. Look at those absurdly bright eyes, lighting up the room. Just look at the way her hair sways as she walks. Is that supposed to be attractive? Who does she think she is?

"Langris...? Langris. Earth to Langris!"

I snap out of my thoughts. "What the hell do you want?"

Finral smirks and glances over at (Y/n) before turning back to me.

"So when's the wedding?" he teased.

My initial reaction is to kill him, but I can't do that with (Y/n) around. So instead, I punch him in the gut.

"Shut up," I hiss. "She'll hear you."

"Fine, fine," he manages to say. "But I can tell you love her."

"Don't make me gag," I scoff. "I'd never fall for her."

~Time Skip of Approximately One Week~

"Langris, wait up!"

I halt in my tracks to see (Y/n) running up to me. Out of habit, I roll my eyes and glare at her approaching figure. Then, I continue in my original direction.

Panting, she walks beside me. "Have- Have you...seen...Finral?"

His name slipped through her lips and stabbed me in the lungs. Why? I hate them both. So why should I care?

"No. Why?" I respond coldly.

She holds up a small card and a singular rose. "He left this for me, so I just wanted to say th-"

My hand moved faster than my mind could process. One moment, the gift in her hands. The next, it's on the ground...under my foot.

"L-Langris? Why would you-"

She's rudely interrupted by my eager advance. My lips lock onto hers like a missing puzzle piece. It feels right, but I'm guilty. Langris, why are you so greedy?

Far too soon, she pulls away from me. With her gestures, I can tell I've done something wrong. But when I look in her eyes, I can tell I've done something right.

"Langris...?" she breathes. "What was that for?"

"That was for turning me into a damn fool," I snapped.

And as cowardly as possible, I walk away. I leave her. I leave her because I don't love her. Yeah...I'd never fall for her.

Never.

~Time Skip of Approximately One Month~

She'd never fall for me. Never. Just listen to her angelic voice. When she so much as speaks, my heart flutters. What the hell has she done to me? I've never smiled from the sound of someone's laughter. I've never longed for someone else's touch. What's happening?

There's a knock on my door and suddenly, I'm back in reality.

"Who is it?" I spoke.

"It's (Y/n). Can we talk?"

It's her? I'm hesitant to open the door, afraid of what she'll say. Ever since that day, our conversations have been impassive and awfully short lived. She must be here to scold me. If not, she's here to simply break my heart.

I open the door and let her in. As she passes me, I'm greeting with her enticing aroma. The sweetest thing of all.

"Langris, I know it's been a while..." she began. "But I think we should talk about what happened."

I nod, waiting for her to continue.

"At first, I was shocked. I never expected such a thing from you. In fact, I was so shocked that I never got to tell you..." she trails off.

"T-Tell me what?"

She steps closer. "I never got to tell you how much I liked it."

And just like that, an unbearable weight is lifted. I could feel my gaze soften for her. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. I could feel a forgien sentiment.

Love?

~Time Skip of Approximately One Year~

She's not all that great. As a matter of fact, she's the best. Look at that heartwarming smile on her face. Look at those beaming eyes of hers. Just look at the way she makes me laugh. Is this what love feels like? What do I think this is?

"Langris. Earth to Langris!" Finral nagged.

"What?" I snap.

He glances at (Y/n), who's asleep on my shoulder. Then, he turns back to me.

"So, when's the wedding?" he smirks.

My initial reaction is to punch him, but I don't want to wake (Y/n). So instead, I shush him.

"Quiet," I muttered. "She'll hear you."

He ruffles my hair and smiles. "You love her. I can tell."

"Don't state the obvious," I jeer. "I've always loved her."

Always.

End.
