A/N: Oops I get very medical in this. No Frank in this chapter but I promise next chapter. And I'll give 30,000,000 high fives to whoever can tell me who the doctor is (from the picture, Dr. Banks is just a random name)
*Ashley's POV*
My dad was driving me to the doctor the next day. I was so grateful to have him at that moment, because without him I'd probably still be hiding in my room. And my dad was a generally comforting person, so he was definitely the best person to be going to the doctor's with.
"So what do you want?" my dad asked, breaking the long silence.
I looked over to him, confused by what he asked. "What?"
He pointed to my belly. "Do you want a boy or girl?"
I looked over to the road and tilted my head a bit, rubbing my bump a bit. I hadn't put much thought to it. "I don't know. But I don't really care."
"Oh, come on," he insisted. "If you could choose for it to be a boy or girl, what would you make it?"
I sighed as my dad stopped at a light. "I don't know, maybe a boy. I could name him Robert and call him Robby or something." I looked over to my dad smiling and he smiled back, rubbing his hand on my head.
"You're such a good kid. I'm sure you're going to make a great mom."
Soon, we pulled into the parking lot of the building where my doctor's office was. When we signed in and went to the waiting room, I looked around at all the other mothers sitting by. I couldn't help but notice that I was significantly younger than the rest of these girls. And every woman was here with her husband, while I was here with my dad, definitely not Frank. But I didn't mind much. It wasn't like I was the first pregnant teenager on the planet.
"Ashley Moore?" a male doctor called from a door. He looked friendly with his smile, and he had dark hair and glasses and a beard. My dad stood up and then helped me up, and then we walked over to him. "Nice to meet you both, I'm Dr. Banks."
"I'm Robert Moore," my dad introduced, "and this is my daughter Ashley."
Dr. Banks shook both of our hands. "If you'll just follow me, we'll get right to it."
As we were walking down the hallway, my dad leaned over to me and whispered, "If you're not comfortable with this, I can go ask for a girl for a doctor."
"I'm fine, Dad," I assured him. He was funny, I had a feeling that he'd be freaking out for the next few months about the fact that I had a male doctor.
Dr. Banks gave me a hospital gown. "If you'll just go into this room and get changed into this, your father and I can wait out here until you're ready."
I took the dress, nodded, and closed the door. I got changed as fast as I could, feeling uncomfortable being naked in this room. I folded my clothes and put them down on the floor next to a chair in the corner. Before I opened the door, I saw posters all over the wall will charts and diagrams that somehow made me nervous.
I opened the door to see my dad leaning against a wall, staring at his feet, and seeing the doctor checking his clipboard. "You all set?" Dr. Banks asked.
I nodded and then they came into the room, then the doctor shut the door. "Let's get started," he said with a smile. He began by asking me questions like my birthday, which it looked like it threw him a bit off guard when he realized I was only seventeen. He asked some more questions, like how much I weighed before I was pregnant and how tall I was. Then he weighed me and took some notes.
