Sapnap examined his best friend standing next to him.
He knew what Dream looked like, he had for a long time already. It was still weird to see him in personal, though. Seeing the face that was paired with all those late night conversations and laughs, was weird.
However, it wasn't what was freaking Sapnap out at that moment.
Because Dream was crazy nervous. Like, lip biting, eyes darting everywhere and hand shaking nervous. Never in Sapnap's life had he seen his best friend that nervous.
Not even before some of the biggest moments of their lives.
"Calm down, dude," Sapnap said, his face a mixture of confusing and disgust. He looked away, scanning the airport. He too was looking for a specific British man.
"I am calm."
"I don't care that you're hopelessly in love with our Georgie, but stop acting weird."
Dream sputtered out some none sense, but the boys stayed quiet after that, carefully watching out for George.
"Sapnap?"
Dream practically broke his neck.
"Dream?"
George yelped when Dream picked him up in a tight hug, not even caring about how it must look to an outsider.
Sapnap chuckled as he saw George's face heat up.
The ride home was not necessarily awkward, but there had been this tension in the air and it was weird.
Yeah, weird, Dream thought as they got out of the car.
He knew it was wrong, but all of the sudden he had been scared to say something questionable, he became hyper aware of the man in the backseat, he became self conscious.
He hated it.
Why did he feel like this? Why did he feel so unsure.
Dream scoffed, gaining the attention of his best friends. He knew why he felt so unsure.
"You alright buddy?" Sapnap asked concerned. He too had noticed the tension and he too hated it.
"Yeah I'm fine."
There was this feeling in his gut that someone was watching him. Without even realising that it was George he was immediately looking at, he already got eye contact with the shorter boy.
George's eyes widened, his cheeks heating up, like he just had been caught doing something that was definitely not pg-13.
Dreams throat dried up as he saw the sparkles in Georges eyes, who wasn't looking at him anymore. He recognised that look. He knew what that caught in action look meant.
All the flirting, the teasing, the jokes, the looks, the late night calls, the "you're handsome". It all made sense.
A big wide smile took over Dreams features. He was almost jumping from joy as he unlocked the front door, his mood switching noticeably.
George opened his mouth to comment on it, but Dream didn't care at all.
"So! Uhm, welcome." He swung the door open, kicking his shoes off. George and Sapnap shared a look, but followed Dream's lead silently, closing the door behind them.
"Mi casa es su casa as some people would say." He turned around swiftly. "Kitchen," he started pointing with his index finger, his eyes darting all over the room. The big wide smile on his face was more scary than anything else. "Bathroom down the hall uhm yeah. Sap you can put your stuff in the guest room and George you'll be sleeping with me tonight."
George spluttered, cheeks turning red and eyes widening, failing to say anything.
Just like Dream anticipated. He couldn't help but look fondly at the obvious shy man in front of him.
George liked him.
"Why?" Sapnap just decided to ask, breaking the silence. Dream looked at him, raising an eyebrow.
"Why is George sleeping with you tonight?" George nervously laughed.
"Because," Dream turned around, making his way to the kitchen. He didn't need Sapnap to see his red cheeks. The two followed him. "I only have one other mattress, which is in the guest room." Lie. "The couch is very uncomfortable." Also a lie. "And I thought that that out of the two of you George was the most comfortable with sleeping next to me." Not a lie. "Besides, we're just friends. Nothing is gonna happen."
He looked at George, winking at him. The younger boy looked at Dream, examining the man, taking in what was happening.
The red cheeks, the slight stutter in the words, the nervous hint in his voice, the excuses.
"Oh."
And then his long time crush made eye contact with him. George's mouth turned dry.
Oh
