Hypersomnia- sleeping too much/ excessive daytime sleeping
-----
"Seamus!" Sly shook a sleeping Seamus rather violently.
This is what Sly had to do in order to wake his... best friend? Boyfriend? He didn't know what they were classified as since nothing had been clarified by Seamus. He was so indecisive, one day he'd be so warm and welcome but the next he'd push Sly away. One day he'd let Sly kiss him and the next he'd blow up in his face. Sly didn't know much about Hypersomnia but he'd like to think Seamus' mood swings were a part of it. It had managed to seep into his videos, the constant irritation in Seamus' voice was another symptom. It was always difficult for Seamus to wake up from sleeping for a long time, leading to Sly shaking him awake. Seamus twitched in his sleep, as if he was trying to inch away from Sly's vigorous movements.
"Wake up, buddy." Sly ordered, yet his tone was soft and gentle.
He remembered when he discovered Seamus' condition. Just the two of them were on the road, and Seamus was practically falling asleep behind the wheel. Sly had forced him to pull over where Seamus reluctantly told Sly why he was always so tired and taking naps, even against his will on occasion.
Seamus cracked a sleepy eye open.
"You have to get up, Seamus. You've been sleeping for awhile and all the guys are wondering where you are." Sly told him, taking one of Seamus' hands so he couldn't cover his eyes with it.
Sly knew to be careful when waking Seamus up. He knew Seamus hated how he was. Seamus hates the way he always drowns himself in coffee every morning, though it doesn't help much. He hates how Sly has covered his ass so many times when he was falling asleep while recording. He hates that Sly has gotten him out of creature talk, just so he doesn't fall asleep in front of the guys or on camera. The way he can hardly drive, the fact that the countless naps he takes during the day don't help him at all. He hates all of it, he hates the way it ruins his life. But most of all, he hates the way he has grown to depend on Sly.
"Are you awake?" Sly asks, brushing Seamus' long hair out of his face.
"No." Seamus tells him, even though he wants to say yes.
After a few minutes of coaxing, Sly managed to finally get Seamus out of bed. He finds him again, in the kitchen this time, with a cup of coffee in his hands.
"I told you to stay away from that!" Sly scolds him, grabbing the cup out of Seamus' hands. "I read online that you should stay away from it."
Seamus attempts to snatch it from his friend's hands but the cup is already being dumped in the sink. "No! Sly I need that!"
"You don't, Seamus. It doesn't do you any good and you know it." Sly argues, putting the cup in the dishwasher. "Now come on we need to get to the office."
Seamus nods, only to be interrupted by a wave of exhaustion. "Maybe we should go later, I'm feeling a little sleepy."
Seamus makes a move for one of the chairs but Sly is in front of him in a flash.
"No! Seamus don't, stay awake!" Sly grabs Seamus' arms in an attempt to keep him upright.
Seamus fought to stay awake, his body and brain was telling him to sleep yet he knew he shouldn't need to. It was hard, it seemed like the more he fought sleep the more tired he felt. Seamus knew he'd never win the constant battle with sleep but it didn't mean he ever didn't fight back. His eyelids felt heavy and he struggled to keep them open. Seamus and Sly both knew that once his eyes were closed, there was no going back. A lump in the back of Seamus' throat began to form.
"I'm so tired of being tired, Eddie.." Seamus choked out, blinking slowly.
Sly nodded and pulled Seamus to him, wrapping his around around his friends body. "It's ok, Seamus. I know."
Sly didn't know what else to say. He had never seen Seamus so upset. He'd never seen Seamus cry before, but by the look on Seamus' face he knew it was going to happen.
"I'm so tired."
Sly heard Seamus hiccup into his shoulder, his fingers digging into Sly's back. Then Seamus' whole body weight was dropped upon him. Sly struggled to keep Seamus from falling as he dragged him into the living room. Sly heaved Seamus' unconscious body onto the couch, knowing that when he woke the process would start all over again.
Sly finally understood what Seamus meant. He wasn't just tired from his condition. He was tired of his condition. He was tired of this life.
He was just.. Tired.
