So much given

So little received

The girl in the mirror wasn't me.
She couldn't be me.
I don't want that to be me.

I had medium length pale brown hair. I wasn't a brown haired person, I was natural blonde. I was always blonde, it was always long. Big waves where replacing the messy straight hair I had for years. And to finish it off, a sharp fringe stuck on my forehead, jagged and gross.

My freckles stuck out of my skin in awkward ways, my bright blue eyes practically popping out of my head with the amount of makeup on them. I felt like a hairless rat with frog eyes.

My skin was bare from hair, a tight red dress clung to my waist and 6 inch heals were strapped to my feet.

This wasn't me.
Did people not like the old me?
Was I never good enough?

And that's when I started crying for at least the 7000 time from being here, I wanted to curl up in a ball and actually at this point die. This was too much to handle, far too much.

What had they done to me?

"She loves it!" One of them squeaked, everyone applauding in the room. "she's crying she loves it so much!"

"Her owners want to see her" the same damn ass woman, that stupid woman piped up from outside the door, loyal staff nodding at her requests. My hands balled into fists either side of me. Don't lash out Averiee, don't do it please my body practically begged.

"Holy shitballs" Michael grinned, him letting go a wolf whistle. "don't you look fine"

"She looks stupid" Calum snapped, walking fast over to where I was sat. His finger found the side of my face, his thumbs brushing away the tears that were falling rapidly. "your not ok are you"

I could feel my head shake on impulse and before I knew it, I was wrapped tightly within his arms, his whole body engulfing me in a tight embrace. He smelt so good, it felt so nice to be wrapped within someone real again, someone who wasn't interested in changing me. He smelt of cologne and mint and I'd never needed something so much in my life.

"Shush sweetheart" he cooed, his silky soft voice causing me to melt on the insides. "You're ok, Im here"

"I think she looks great" Ashton piped up, tears pooling at the edges of my eyes. "thank the staff Averiee"

"Thankyou" I whisper, them all nodding fluently before scurrying away. Calum let go for a minute, wiping the years away from the corner of my eyes with his thumb.

"Don't worry, as soon as we're out of here we will get some makeup remover and go shopping and make you the same as you always were. You will be back to your beautiful self, ok angel?" He smiled, pressing a kiss to my forehead. I nod, resting my head on the side of his body.

"Are you ready for lunch Averiee? Mr Irwin will be taking you down" the woman smirks, tapping her foot against the hard cold ground.

"Yes" I state before Ashton offers me his arm. I thread my own within his and I turn and wave to Calum, him smiling in reply and giving a little wave back.

"Let's go" Ashton giggled, pulling me through the large double doors and back into the fresh air. "do you want to dance there?"

"I don't understand" I laugh, pushing my hair away from my face. What's this kid on?

"It's not hard" he grins goofily, swinging his body around. "I'll even give you a kiss goodbye!"

"I think we should just stick to the dancing" I mutter, flinging my body around just like him. He lets out another laugh before grabbing my hands and swings with me, us both laughing like crazy as we pull into yet another cold white building. Ever thought of using pink as a colour?
