Mikan's POV

I decide to go stay at an inn for the night. Tomorrow I'll head out of the town and find some easy monsters to fight. I swipe the air and the menu pops up. 11:30 P.M. June 26th 2024...what a strange world. I click on the health and safety tab. HP 20, MP 15, and my heart rate monitor is doing fine. I scroll down. "When in battle, stay calm and think before you move. If your heart rate goes up it can result in serious injury on your real body. If you die in the game...YOU DIE IN REAL LIFE?!?!" I shout. *Beep beep beep* Great. I can potentially die because of this. I can hurt myself because of this stupid game. Why was it even in my desk? I close the menu and roll on to my side under the thin navy blue blanket and fall asleep.

I wake up to Tsuzuki staring at me. "ACK-" I roll off my bed. Standing up, I grab my scythe. I guess I forgot to change because I'm still wearing my sailor suit. "Sooo? Ready to train?" Tsuzuki grabs her swords off of her back. I pick up my scythe. Somehow I didn't notice it before, but it has ruby's going down the handle of my scythe. It turns out I can adjust the length of it too. "Seems like I was born ready. But gimme a sec." I sigh. I open up the menu and go to the information tab. I scroll until I find the information about my weapon. Tsuzuki walks over to read it with me. "A powerful scythe known as The Scythe of Bones. The Scythe of Bones was given this name due to its bone crushing power and was originally known as The Scythe of Many Souls. It was called this because of the ruby's in the handle. If you look closely at them, you'll be able to see one's soul. In this game, there is only two of these weapons. if you chose this weapon, you are burdened with the power of souls. Be aware that this weapon is very hard to use and that there will be some days where it will have a mind of its own." I skim over the names again. The Scythe of Bones? The Scythe of Many Souls? This game just got weirder. I turn to Tsuzuki, only to see her staring at me with wide eyes and an exited smile. "You good?" I ask. "EEEEE!!!!! THATS SO COOOOL!!!!" Tsuzuki jumps around cheerfully. "Heh, you're really something...should we go train now?" I ask while heading towards the door. "Yeah, we don't wanna miss any of the cool monsters. And I reaaaalllyyyyy wanna see you in action with your scythe!" Tsuzuki squeals. She grabs my wrist and pulls me cheerfully out of the bedroom and out the inn door.

As we're walking out of the city, we see a goblin attacking a small girl. Without thinking, I pull out my scythe, charge towards the goblin, jump up as high as I could, and thrust the sharp tip of the scythe into the goblins head and landed on my feet with elegance, just like a cat. "Woah! How'd you do that?" The girl asks. "I'm not sure myself yet, but be careful okay?" I pat the girls head. "Okay! Here, this is as a thank you gift!" The girl takes the white ribbons out of her hair. "lean down please!" The girl smiles. I do as I'm told and I lean down. She ties my hair in low pigtails with the ribbon. "This is so that your hair wont get in your face when you do that again!" The girl gives me a hug and then skips away. I chuckle to myself as Tsuzuki runs up to me. "THAT WAS SO COOL!!!!" Tsuzuki exclaims. "I-it was nothing..." I say, obviously embarrassed. "Looks like its about lunch time. We'll train after we eat." I sigh. Me and Tsuzuki walk out of the town only to see the beautiful scenery with the mid-day sun shining down. There we're trees, colourful flowers, bushes, and a large rocky river in the middle. Although, theres one part that seemed so...familiar. We sit down to eat our sandwiches and watch the birds fly by.
