Amy's POV
"Who is she father?" The boy asks. He seems about one or two years older than me. I look down at the floor, scared of what this family will think of me.
"This is Amy. She's the daughter of an old friend of mine. Both him and his wife were killed. She was the only child, he requested in his will, if I could take her. I already knew of this and was happy to take her in. Garrison, you must be nice to her. Take care of this girl and make sure she's comfortable. Amy, ask Gary here if you need anything." Gary's father, and soon to be my adopted father explains. I nod slightly as he releases my shoulders.
He leaves Gary and I standing alone in the entrance hall. Their house is amazing and I can't believe I'm about to live in this house."Your really pretty." Gary tells me.
"Thank you." I say shyly.
"Amy, I'm gonna be your brother. Forever. I'll be there for you always, I promise." Gary tells me. I don't say anything, I'm so surprised from his comment. He comes over to me and grabs my wrists gently.
"Don't worry Amy, your gonna be really happy here." He says. He's smiling really happily. I smile back genuinely.
"Hello Garrison, Amy." A woman's voice drifts through the hall.
"Mother!" Gary yells and whirls around. His mother looks like him. They have similar eyes and hair colours. She's very beautiful.
"Your father told me about Amy. Please know you're very welcome in our home." She says. "I'll leave Gary to show you around our home." His mother says and leaves the room, going in the same direction Gary's father went in.
"See, you're gonna love it here!" Gary says and does something that surprises her. He hugs me. I widen my eyes and just stand there. He releases me and smiles at me. I find myself smiling back.
That was the first time I met Gary. It occurs to me, I never told the others that I'm Gary's adopted sister. The adopted Fair child. That promise...
It was five months later after is first arrived at the Fair's house. We were outside under the big tree in Spring. We sat cross legged on the grass, me in front of him while he sat running his fingers through my hair.
"I really love you Amy. Not just family love but the love like father and mother have. One day I want you to marry me." Six year old Gary says.
"That would be nice." Four year old me says.
"Will you do it?" Gary says.
"Yeah of course!" I say.
"Promise me you will Amy." Gary says.
"Of course I promise." I say. "I promise I will, I'll always love you Gary."
That was so long ago. The thing is, I promised the old Gary. Not the Gary standing before me.
I avoid his gaze, with a clear sad look on my face. I look at him sadly, point at my wrist to say "I need more time" and walk, somewhat run out of Gary's room. I run back into mine ignoring dr jones and Vira. I find my bedroom and quickly slam the door behind me. I sit on my bed and bury my head in my hands. I fall back on to the bed noticing the pretty teal doona and pillowcases. It's a queen sized bed with an amazingly comfortable mattress. It's been so long since I've been in a bed like this. I find myself drifting off to sleep, sleeping across the bed horizontally. I feel a final salty, silent tear roll down my face.
Yeah, you guys gotta wait till next chapter to know what Amy says. Double update, so everything is explained about that Gary and Amy cliffhanger.
