Dabi frowned as the sky overhead opened up and a torrential downpour spilled from the grey clouds soaking everything in an instant. He pulled his jacket up in an attempt to keep himself dry and was about to run for cover when he noticed a familiar teenager wearing a frilly black skirt and a ruffled top with sleeves that fanned out. She was kneeling on the sidewalk in front of a high school gate. She had no umbrella or coat to keep her safe from the elements and there was no sign of the fancy car that had picked her up before.

He approached her slowly, looking in the direction her gaze was transfixed to see what she was looking at so intently. There was a boy of about seventeen struggling to put away some sporting equipment and get out of the rain. Dabi paused next to the girl and held his arm out opening his jacket over her in an attempt to shield her from the rain.

Those strange pale grey eyes with the faint mauve undertones flicked upward as she tilted her head back. A small smile twisted onto her lavender painted lips. She said nothing just smiled up at him before returning her gaze to the boy.

Dabi looked down at the strange girl, "this your school?" He pondered.

She shook her head.

"Can you speak?" He asked curiously. The little basket case had been on his mind since he'd first seen her handiwork.

A soft childish giggle escaped her and she nodded.

"But you won't?" He mused.

She nodded again.

"Well that's a bit frustrating." He sighed as he watched the boy struggle in the rain with the equipment. "Ex-boyfriend?"

Mesmer wrinkled her nose at this and shook her head.

"Crush?"

Another shake of her head.

Dabi noticed a faint glow of light from her eyes, a brief flash of neon purple. He looked to the boy and saw him drop what he was holding and press the heels of his palms into his temples with a wince of pain. He stumbled and Dabi heard a soft giggle escape Mesmer as the boy tripped over one of the balls he'd dropped and face planted on the sidewalk.

When the boy got up there was a faint glow in his eyes. He went to a nearby lawn shed where the groundskeeper's supplies were housed. Dabi watched curiously as the boy returned with a canister of gasoline, and some rope. What was he doing? The glow was still in his eyes and he had a calm focus about him as he moved as if on autopilot.

The high schooler opened the door and splashed the gasoline all over the floor before retrieving a lighter from his pocket. He ignited the gasoline before tossing the canister down the hall and closed the doors before tying them shut with the rope.

"The hell?" Dabi stared in awe as the school started to go up in flames. The boy stood in a maddened daze watching the door with a smile.

After a few minutes, screams came from within the building as the fire spread rapidly. There were still people inside! Dabi looked down as Mesmer wrapped her arms around herself and giggled. She glanced up at him and smiled innocently.

"Was there a reason behind that?" He pondered wondering if the girl was just a deranged murderess or if she had a real motive behind her madness.

She smiled and nodded before getting to her feet as the screams grew louder and more panicked as the building began to burn faster. Sirens sounded in the distance. Mesmer grabbed the front of his plain white shirt beneath his jacket he was currently holding partially above him in an attempt to shield them from the rain. She tugged on his shirt and pulled him away from the school as the sirens drew nearer.
