Chapter Four: The Truth Revealed

Bella's POV

I pulled up to the Cullen's residence. It's the same as the last time I was here. It was sort of eerie. Last time I was here Jasper was still transitioning from a human blood diet to animal blood and he attacked me out of instinct which in turn caused Edward to leave. I pushed the dark thought away taking a deep breath. I wondered if Edward told his family about the change. Only one way to find out. I went to open the door and Edward was immediately there, startling me.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you." He said opening the car door for me.

"No, it's okay I'm just not used to you showing up so quickly." I said stepping out of the car. Right as my feet hit the ground Alice was there.

"I'll take that." She said taking my bag out of my hand. Edward offered me his hand. Taking it, he led me up the stairs to the huge french doors. We walked in and were met with the rest of the Cullen's waiting in the living room. Edward and I sat down on the sofa white sofa and soon I was the center of attention. Everyone was asking so many questions about everything that had happened in the last two years. I told them about how I had graduated high school early with an accelerated program in Jacksonville and was taking time to decide on what I wanted to do next. After a while, Alice looked at me with a confused expression.

"Bella?" Alice said looking at me.

"Yes, Alice?" I responded feeling an uneasy feeling coming from Edward as he shifted in his seat, knowing what Alice was about to ask. I glanced up at him when he moved, but quickly returned my attention back to Alice as she spoke.

"How come I didn't see you coming back to forks?" She asked confused and concerned. I sighed this was the exact conversation I was trying to avoid.

"Well, I'm not really sure quite honestly." I lied trying to sound as convincing as possible. I could feel all the Cullen's eyes on me as I spoke. "Maybe it's cause it was a last-minute decision my mom made." I said trying to sound convincing. Edward looked at me with a confused look as to why I didn't tell them the truth.

"Well Bella, it looks like you've been hanging out with the dogs. Phew! You stink!" Emmett said plugging his nose as we all laughed at his comment.

"Well Emmett, you'll just have to deal with it" I shot back jokingly as Edward looked at me with a concerned look as everyone else laughed.

"So Bella....tomorrow we go shopping bright and early." She said already having a full day of shopping and fun planned for us.

"If you insist Alice." I responded as she began to skip upstairs.

"I do. So get some rest." She responded already on the second floor. Edward and I stood up and began to make our way upstairs before being stopped by Esme.

"We're really happy you're back Bella." She said her voice soft and gentle just how iI remember. She gave me a gentle hug before we continued our way up to the third floor. Just as we reached the second floor there was a big bang.

"JASPER YOU CHEATED!" shouted Emmett from a nearby room.

"No I didn't Emmett you just suck!" Jasper shouted back as another loud bang shook the house.

"Jasper Emmett. If you're going to rough house you need to do it outside." Carlisle scolded. Next thing the two are flying out the window and fighting outside. Edward led me up to his room where there was a huge king-sized bed with a beautiful dark red silk comforter and dark black sheets. The bed itself was huge, there were 4 pillars each 7 or 8 feet tall and the whole bed was made from a dark almost black wood.

"This is new." I said shocked that he had a bed in the middle of his room facing the huge floor to ceiling windows that overlooked the nearby river.

"I figured you'd need somewhere to sleep." He said quietly. I smiled admiring the huge soft bed. I sat on the bed looking up at Edward, making eye contact with his light honey eyes.

"Too much?" He asked looking back at me with a little fear in his voice.

"No, it's amazing" I responded making him smile. He sat next to me putting his hand on my knee.

"Bella? Why didn't you tell my family that you phased?" He asked concerned. I opened my mouth to respond and suddenly there was a squeal outside. Edward and I both stood up and looked off the porch to see one of the wolves curled up on the ground in pain. It was Seth, the youngest of the pack.

"Seth!" I yelled swinging myself off the porch and landing perfectly on the ground next to him.

"Are you okay?" I asked worried about him as he laid curled up in his human form screaming. Carlisle rushed over checking Seth.

"It looks like he has a couple broken ribs." He said after doing a quick analysis of his body. My eyes shot to Emmett glaring, knowing it was him who crushed Seth. "Jasper help me get him inside." Carlisle said calm and collected. I stood up looking at Emmett angry.

"Really Emmett?!" I shouted getting angry with him my body shaking. Looking past him I noticed the wolves behind Emmett in the forest growling. Suddenly Edward was by my side.

"Bella, calm down. He didn't mean to." Edward reasoned as Emmett retreated to the porch where the rest of the Cullen's were watching with shock on their faces. That's when I realized that they had just seen a human jump from 3 stories up and land without a scratch on their body.

"Bella. What was that?!" Alice said referring to me jumping off of Edward's 3rd story balcony.
