Chapter Three: Back to Normal?

Bella's POV

I hadn't seen Jake since I phased, he hadn't changed much though. He and Charlie sat in the living room socializing before looking up and noticing me.

"Bella!" he exclaimed jumping up and running towards me with a big grin on his face. He engulfed me in a huge hug, lifting me off the ground.

"Hey, Jake." I said laughing and hugging him.

"What's new it's been ages since I last saw you. Charlie said you went to see your mom in Florida after the bloodsucker tried to kill you." He said releasing me and setting me back down.

"Not much. Besides the whole wolfy thing." I responded

"Oh ya! I forgot that you finally phased. It took you long enough to catch up with the rest of us!" he said jokingly as he playfully hit my shoulder.

"Hey shut up!" I responded laughing. We sat back down on the soft worn-in couch and talked and laughed for what seemed like hours.

Edward's POV

Once returning home I sped up to my room and started the shower, not wanting to waste any time interacting with my family. I let the hot water relax my muscles, tense from the news I'd received about Bella. When I finally got out I looked at my phone and realized I had spent an hour in the shower. Quickly, I got dressed and went to find Alice to let her know that Bella was back. I walked into her room to find clothes covering the ground from what seemed like another closet purge.

"Alice?" I said wondering where in the mess she was.

"Yes?" She responded quickly coming from inside the massive walk-in closet.

"Bella's back in Forks. She returned last night." I said watching as her face lit up from the mention of Bella.

"You're kidding?! No Way! This is so exciting! We have to get a shopping trip planned." She squealed as she sped around the room cleaning up all the clothes and neatly stacking them on a nearby sofa. "Well, what are you waiting for let's go!" She exclaimed grabbing my wrist and flashing down to the car with no time to spare. He got into my silver Volvo and began the trek to Bella's house. The whole drive I was contemplating telling her what Bella had told me. "Edward.." Alice spoke bringing me out of my trance. "I hadn't seen Bella coming back are you sure she's here?" She asked right as we pulled up to the familiar house to see Bella walking Jacob out to his old red truck.

"Yes, Alice" I responded parking the car and taking the key out of the ignition.

Bella's POVAfter about an hour of catching up with Jake, I walked him out to his old red truck. Right as we stepped out of the house Edward's silver Volvo pulled up and parked. My heart rate increased seeing the car and Alice inside the car. Jake turned to me.

"You're still seeing him!?" He exclaimed angrily. "Bella you know that's not safe. He could kill you. Hell, he almost did! Or did you just forget about that." He said his voice slightly raised and full of anger.

"Jacob it's fine. I haven't seen them in years. Give it time." I said calmly trying to prevent him 

from exploding in anger.

"Does Charlie know?" he said still angry as we stand on my front porch, leaving Edward and Alice waiting.

"No, but let me handle it Jake." I said my heart rate spiking at the thought of Charlie finding out. Right on cue, Charlie opened the door.

"What seems to be the problem here?" He asked as he had heard Jacob shouting from inside. Jacob looked at me before looking at Charlie.

"No problem, just making sure Bella stays safe.," Jake responded with a forced smile before 

walking to his truck. "See ya later, Bella." he said before getting into the truck.

"Bye, Jake" I responded forcefully smiling back at him. Right after Jacob closed the door to his 

truck Alice was out of the car and on the porch engulfing me in one of her hugs.

"Bella! Why didn't you tell me you were coming back!? I've missed you so much!" She exclaimed 

hugging me tightly before letting me go again. "You too Charlie. You've been so distant recently," she said turning to Charlie and hugging him.

"I just got back yesterday afternoon Alice. I was going to call you today" I said as she released 

Charlie.

"Well in that case, why don't we have a sleepover?!" she squealed Edward now at her side.

"I don't think that's a good idea" Edward and Charlie both said in sync before looking at each other. Charlie giving Edward a confused yet threatening look.

"Hey come on guys why not? It's been forever. It'll be good to have some girl time." I said trying 

to convince Charlie it would be fine.

"Are you sure Bella?" Charlie said looking at me reminding me of our conversation earlier.

"Ya, I don't see any problem with it." I responded just as Alice turned to him.

"Oh come on Charlie. I won't let anything bad happen to her." She said charmingly. Looking at him with her normal Alice smile. Charlie sighed.

"Well, I guess one night won't hurt." He said as Alice squealed hugging me once more.

"This will be so much fun!!!" She squealed again before releasing me again. "Be over at 8pm sharp. Don't be late!" She said before speeding back to the car slightly faster than any human would.

"Gotta love, Alice." Edward said jokingly before turning to me. "I'll see you soon." He said smiling at me before leaving back to the car where a very excited Alice was waiting.

"Well Bella, better get packing for that sleepover." Charlie said reluctantly as he walked back into the house. I followed him back as Edward and Alice drove off back home.
