Bella's POV

I woke to a light shining through the light periwinkle curtains of my room. I rolled over, stretching my newly formed sore muscles and felt an unfamiliar presence beside me, wrapping me tightly in a cold yet warm embrace.

"Edward?" I said in a confused soft voice."Yes, love" a soft silky voice replied. Atomically recognizing the voice, I snuggled closer into his cold chest and breathed in his new sweet-smelling scent, forgetting that everything had changed since I'd last seen him. As I began to wake up more I remembered my mom telling me that Charlie was also a wolf, reminding me that he would be able to smell Edward's scent the next time he came into my room. As I pulled away he looked at me with a confused expression.

"What's wrong?" he asked as I looked at him with fear and sadness in my eyes as tears began to form.

"I can't-" I said my tears falling onto my cheeks. He quickly wiped them away with his ice-cold hand, still confused with what was going on. I knew I had to tell him. I just didn't know-how. How do you tell someone that you're not the same person you were and that you can't see them anymore? I decided that now was not the time to get into it and I buried my face in his chest as he held me tighter.

"It's okay, love. Talk to me." He pleaded as I continued to cry. After mustering up the courage I finally told him what Charlie had told me not 24 hours earlier and that he wasn't going to budge. His face was expressionless as he processed what I had just told him. Suddenly, his phone began to vibrate in his pocket. Seeing he wasn't going to respond I picked it up.

"Alice" I whispered as I saw her name light up the screen as the phone continued to vibrate. I looked up at him waiting for a response.

"Just leave it" He responded after a moment. Gently taking the phone back and sliding it back in his pocket before burying his face in my hair.

"You smell different. Like my Bella, but different." He said looking at me with confusion yet again.

"That's the thing. I've changed." I said as his face only became more confused. "That's why Charlie doesn't want me to see you or your family. I'm different now." I said trying to beat around the bush.

"Different how?" He asked with more fear in his voice than before.

"Well you see, I sort of phased while I was visiting my mom," I said and before saying anything else Edward knew what was different and how everything changed. He knew it was forbidden by the treaty and the Volturi. He knew the consequences of the risk.

"Would you like me to leave?" He said after a long moment of silence. Quickly, I wrapped my arms around him pulling him as close as I could shaking my head 'no'. He laughed a quiet lighthearted laugh and wrapped his arms around me planting a gentle kiss on the top of my head. I hugged him like it was the last time I was ever going to feel his cold body against mine. After a couple minutes, Edward left saying he had family business to tend to. Reluctantly, I let him go making him promise that this wouldn't be the last time I see him.

Once he was gone, I got up and walked into the bathroom to take a shower. I couldn't get him out of my head, it was like nothing had changed. He was still Edward and I was still Bella, just different now. I quickly get out and get ready for the day before heading downstairs to get some breakfast. I hear Charlie talking to people as I make my way down the stairs. I enter the living room and I see him, Jacob.
