Pairing - Mattia x Kairi (Mairi) Category - Fluff POV - A/N - sorry I haven't uploaded in a while, I get random bursts of motivation and then nothing for weeks
Kairi hissed in pain, a deep scowl on his face. He had fell in the middle of a soccer match and had to go to the nurse, and thus blamed himself for them loosing. Mattia didn't see a big deal.
"It literally wasn't your fault dude, they tripped you." "If I was paying attention I woulda saw-" "Come here."
Kai blinked and got up, wincing again, and went over to Mattia's bed. Mattia pulled him into the sheets with him, situating them to Kai was half in his lap.
Kairi tensed up. This was unusual.
Absently Mattia's thumb stroked the little hairs on the back of Kairi's neck. He shuddered softly but relaxed significantly.
He never did get much physical affection.
Time Two
Kairi laid in Mattia's arm, crying softly. His girlfriend had cheated on him.
At first Mattia's reaction was to joke. After seeing Kai's teary eyes he went right back on it. He didn't deserve to be done dirty like this so many times.
So he held him, the pad of his thumb stroking the tiny hairs on the back of his neck.
"It's okay Kairi... she doesn't deserve you." "But I thought she was so good! If she doesn't then who does?"
Without thinking Mattia pressed his lips against Kairi's. He had liked him for a long while now. Watching him go from girl to girl only to get put down was like torture to him. He knew he could treat him right. He knew it. He just needed him to agree.
When he pulled back Kai was staring at him with large, saucer-like eyes.
"What was that Mattia?" "I do. I deserve you. And you deserve someone to treat you right." "... Okay."
Time 3
"MATTIA! YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THAT!" Kairi screamed, tears pouring down his face.
Mattia felt like the scum of the earth. All he did was wrestle with Alejandro for just a bit too long. He should've known how Kai would feel.
"It didn't mean anything Kai I swear. Just calm down and let me hold you."
Kairi sighed and moved into Mattia's arms. As usual, the pad of Mattia's thumb brushed against the back of his neck like a metronome.
"I can't do this." Kairi said after a few seconds. "What?" "I can't trust people I'm dating right now. And I don't want you to have to deal with my trust issues." "You're leaving me?" "For now. I'll probably come back."
Mattia sighed and let go of Kai. They stood a solid foot apart, looking each other in the eyes. They both hated this. And before long they both "hated" each other.
Time 4
Mattia's heart hammered in his chest. This was happening. Kairi was in his arms again. He could finally hold him again.
"Marry me." He said suddenly, pausing on the downstroke of his thumb. "What?" Kai adjusted so he could look at Mattia while still pressing his entire body against his.
"Marry me. Please. I know I wanna be with you forever. And I can't handle loosing you again. All we need to do is buy a ring and meet at the courthouse with our parents." "... Meet me there tomorrow at noon." "Deal."
Time 4
They stood in their nursery, Kairi slotted into Mattia's arms perfectly. The pad of his thumb brushed over the little hairs on the back of his neck. Just like when they were little.
They were almost 30 and had adopted a little girl. A baby. They were parents. It felt like a dream.
And yet after all this time one thing remained the same. The way Mattia's thumb ran over the soft skin on the back of Kairi's neck.
