When they got to the go-kart place, the track was deserted apart from the genius and the spy. However reluctant, Natasha had to admit that it felt like a date. "What are we doing here, Stark?" She sighed, feigning irritation.
"Racing," he replied with a devious grin. "I thought it would be fun. Grab a helmet and choose a kart." She slid into the nearest kart, letting her long red hair blow in the wind and he grinned. "No helmet? Okay then, Miss Danger, watch me win."
"The only competition you'd ever win is for the biggest ego," Natasha retorted, starting up the engine.
"That's true. But you would win the beauty contest so I'm privileged to have you here."
His compliment took her by surprise and Tony used that to his advantage. His kart was zooming down the track before she could reply. Laughing, she set off with incredible speed and soon over-took him. "Nice try!" She called and his smile was real. It wasn't flirty or a polished fake one he used for the cameras; it was a real smile.
"Asshole!" Tony yelled back as he overtook her. Natasha laughed again.
After two laps of the track, they reached the finishing line at the same time and Natasha got out of her kart, feeling lighter and happier than she had felt for weeks.
Tony followed suit, taking his helmet off and running a hand through his messy hair. It got even messier but he didn't seem to mind. "Where to next, Natasha?" He asked.
"Back to your house?" Natasha suggested then blushed at his suggestive wink. "I didn't mean it that way, Stark."
"Sure you didn't," Tony smiled. "I'll drive us to a great shwarma place I know."
