It was a normal day for him, in a way, another summery day in the city. He was about to walk into his apartment when a tiny human with fluffy brown hair flung open the door and smiled at him, almost as if the entire sun had taken a human form. He stepped aside to let the other man walk in before taking the shopping bags he had been holding and running to their shared kitchen to find what he wanted. The two had been sharing an apartment for a while now. Despite the one-year age gap between them, when they had lived next door to each other during their university years, they had become close friends. This was remarkable for older if the two, as he was terrible at talking to people who weren't exactly his age. And so, after the both of them had left, they decided to share an apartment until they could both afford a good place to live. In the end, they ended up living together for a couple of years, as they enjoyed each others' company, and didn't want to live alone.
"What are you looking for Max?" asked the taller of the two, who was the one who had just arrived at the apartment.
"Snacks!" responded the shorter one, who was, of course, the one called Max.
"I didn't buy any," said the other boy, as Max turned to him with shock and horror on his face.
"But Jay!" he whined, falling to the floor and feigning death. "We don't have any snacks left!"
"Yes, and you need to cut down on your sugar levels, before you get sick," Jay scolded him jokingly before taking the shopping bag and putting the contents away in their respective places in the kitchen cupboards. "And maybe if you'd been the one to go shopping, like you were supposed to, then you could have got your own snacks instead of asking me to get them."
Max pouted after the scolding, still sitting on the ground of the kitchen. He huffed before standing up again and making his way to the sitting room, which also served as the dining room, as a small table and two chairs stood next to the large sitting room window which slid open to reveal a nice balcony which faced the sun when it set. He plopped down on the sofa and grabbed the tv remote before switching on the tv and watching an overly cliche korean drama.Jay walked in and sat next to him, a bowl of raspberries in his hand. He held the bowl out to Max and asked if he wanted any, before Max grabbed the bowl and started to devour them at an alarming rate.
"You can't be angry at me. I'm just trying to make sure you don't die before you get to your thirties" he spoke over the tv. Max just huffed again and continued to watch the tv while finishing off the raspberries.
"I bought more of that fabric conditioner you like, by the way. Now you can stop complaining about your clothes 'not being fluffy enough'," Jay tried once again to bring Max out of his mood. Max eyed him from the side, before shifting his position. Despite not verbalising it, he was feeling slightly happier now, and he stopped glaring at the tv so harshly. Jay just laughed softly, and they continued to watch the drama together until late into the evening.
