The next day was a Sunday so (Y/n) had the whole day without classes.

In terms of tackling her problems, the best solution she had for the time being was avoiding both Lloyd and Harvey as much as possible.

While on paper it seemed that Lloyd would be the easier of the two to get rid of since he seldom showed himself to her anyway, but that was just the problem. (Y/n) was quite aware that he was stalking her, but not aware of him enough to know when he was and wasn't watching her.

It was invasive and frustrating for her.

She had Harvey in one of her classes which certainly didn't help but she didn't need to think about that until tomorrow.

Luckily for (Y/n), Gabriel had to meet one of his teachers about a piece of work that morning which gave (Y/n) the opportunity to see Wes that she wouldn't have otherwise.

They met at their usual spot just off campus, Wes was waiting there when (Y/n) approached, her dodgy ankle slightly hindered her steps.

"You sure you should be walking on that?"

"I need to get used to it I guess." (Y/n) said with an air of nonchalance. "But I really need to talk to you."

Wes sat down and patted the area of ground next to him that (Y/n) took a seat on.

She looked out thoughtfully, trying to think of a way to say what she was thinking in a way that actually made sense. "I'm sorry." She groaned. "I feel like all I do is dump my problems on you."

"I really don't mind." Wes replied earnestly, he wanted to help (Y/n) in any way he could and was honestly flattered that she saw him as a trustworthy person to go to.

"It's Harvey...." (Y/n) grumbled. "He's in love with me and... I don't want him to do anything. He knows about Lloyd but not about Gabriel and neither of them know about him or each other." She said succinctly- although she was slightly incorrect in part of what she said as Lloyd knew more thanks to Frankie than what (Y/n) thought.

Wes gulped guiltily, he already knew about Harvey's feelings for (Y/n) even if he didn't know at the time how close they were.

"I'm scared he'll hurt Lloyd."

"Why do you care if Lloyd gets hurt?" Wes scowled.

(Y/n) shrugged. "I feel bad for him, I feel bad for all of them... I just want things to be normal." She pulled her knees up to her chest and lowered her face into them.

(Y/n) wished she could just sink into the ground and not have any of these problems. She wanted to go back in time when it was just her having fun with Harvey and Gerry.

Small sniffles and whimpers emmitted her, the third year blinked several times in alarm. (Y/n) was crying. What should he do?

Wes despised the voice in his head that rejoiced in her hurt, he lifted his twitching hand and debated whether he should rub her back in comfort or if the risk of his instincts taking over was too large.

His strain was going crazy, he wanted to laugh and smile as she cried even harder. He wanted to be the cause of her pain and- no, NO.

That wasn't who Wes was, he was far more than his strain. He truly loved (Y/n) and wanted her to be happy, he wanted her love in return but wouldn't force her to love him. That was who he was... But this fucking infection warped all of that genuine affection into the sadistic mess of feelings that lay at the pit of his heart.

"I-I need to go." He said.

(Y/n) raised her head slowly, revealing her watery and reddened eyes. "O-oh." She sounded disappointed, of course she was. He was the only person she could actually confide in and here he was leaving her and letting her down.

"I'm sorry." Wes said with a pained voice, seeing those tears on her face and the slight wobble in her lips was far too much. He was doing this for the best, he knew if he stayed any longer he'd hurt her. His muscles tensed and fingernails dug into his palm. "I'll see you again soon though."

(Y/n) continued to sob softly as she watched her friend rush away.

It was late that evening when Lloyd was dusting the artifacts of his fast growing shrine. All of it was themed blue to represent her strain and the empty vial in his hand was just the pièce de résistance.

Just like he had given her the vial of his golden yellow obsessive blood he intended to get her blue protective blood.

He had the small test ready on his desk to take after he retrieved the blood.

Frankie had informed him that (Y/n) was staying in her mentor's room- that wouldn't do at all.

It was no bother, whatever insignificant time she spent with others now would be forgotten when she spent the rest of her life in Lloyd's loving arms.

But that mentor... He'd have to do something about him eventually, especially when Frankie was talking about how protective and attentive he was to (Y/n).

Lloyd knew that Gabriel could likely kill him with the flick of his pinky so this would have to be planned and thought through. A fight between them would be a death wish on Lloyd's part.

An alarm that Lloyd had set on his phone sounded and he grinned, just that sound seemed to soothe his itchy skin. He had the needle already safely tucked in his pocket and placed the vial there with it.

He wouldn't make the same mistake that he did with Vlod with Frankie: if that experience had taught him anything it was that if you wanted anything done right you have got to do it yourself.
