Hesper's POV
' What could have possibly happened back there?' I said under my breath. 'Did I somehow offend him?'
I was indeed baffled by the occasion. Why did Namjoon resent me out of nowhere? As I was absorbed in my thoughts, I found myself wandering in the halls, observing the unusual pattern in the walls.
I perceived the design as a daily life of a tribe, the appearance of which I believed seemed familiar to me. One particular character caught my attention though. Unlike the previous ones, his had some strangely powerful aura surrounding him, making the person look more intimidating.
In spite of it being my first time ever encountering on such illustrations, I couldn't help but be bothered by the feeling of familiarity emerging from them.
I was so mesmerized by my surroundings, that it came unexpected once I collapsed into something solid. My eyes risen to meet a pair of hazel eyes, instantly recognizing Jungkook, whom I met when I was kidnapped by Hoseok.
The man gave me a dirty look which took me aback along with him suddenly grabbing my wrist and leading me to an unknown dark space.
He then faced me and spoke up ' You got me curious so I was hoping to get some answers having you at a much shorter distance,' his tone suddenly deepened. ' I'd like to see what you make out of yourself'.
Chills ran down my spine at the sudden tone of his words, pulse beat increased. I was in momentary anticipation yet frightened of what was ought to come.
Suddenly, my vision was blinded by an unexpected sensation of a lighted room. Once I adjusted my eyes, I could tell Jungkook took that as a surprise as well.
' Jolly, it's a pleasure to meet you two!' bellowed a male voice.
When I turned to the direction the voice approached from, I discovered a tall broad-shouldered man standing behind the kitchen counter. Never before had I seen such a fine looking person with practically symmetrical features. Gradually, my astonishment was over once an apron landed my face. When I turned to Jungkook, he was covered with one as well.
'Well, since you're already here, I might as well use some extra hands!' the man proposed to which we couldn't possibly resist.
In a moment's pass we were soon occupied with various assignments. Both of us were taking orders from Jin who conducted the entire process. We decided on preparing a booblerim, which is famous for its sweet yet extravagant flavour.
Though it was a simple dish, Jin was extremely dedicated to follow the recipe precisely without a single error. He almost ended up nagging me for adding mekin - a fruit with a sour taste that mother would add to create a balanced contrast to the flavour.
Gradually, after degustating the result, he approved of my decision and even praised me.Jungkook, on the other hand, resulted in sticking some of the ingredients to the plate somehow - it didn't even fall off when he flipped it over.
Later after hours of cooking lunch was served and we each took a portion to taste, melting at the euphoric sensation once applying the texture on one's tounge.
As we were munching on the booblerim, Jin was the one to break the silence 'Enjoying yourselves?'
I nodded, still busy devouring the dish.
'Earlier today I've sensed a string of progesterone floating through your body. Has something been bothering you lately?'
I chocked at his question causing me to beat my own chest. 'Sorry, but what?' I responded.
'Weren't you with Namjoon earlier before?' he proceeded to interrogate me. 'Did something occur between you two?'
'I don't know...' I mumbled.
'Pardon?' Jungkook looked up.
'I really don't know what happened! We didn't even end up arguing yet I can't ignore his latter behaviour. It's like he turned cold out of nowhere. I can't erase the thought of being the one causing it,' volume of concern increased in my voice.
As a slight moment of silence followed, Jin coughed' That's not likely of him indeed'.
'Tell us about your fam,' Jungkook addressed me, still munching on his treat.
It came unexpected, but I quickly responded .
'My mother passed away while giving birth to my youngest sister. Ever since then dad would occasionally go to the bar, especially at nighttime. One day he just never turned up. Rumours followed that he apparently drunk himself to death, though his body was never to be found'.
3rd person POV
As Jungkook noticed Hesper's somber expression, he couldn't but sympathize with the girl. Not only had she gone through the death of her parents, she had to carry the responsibility for the rest of the family's well-being. Yet she was desperate enough to protect all of them no matter the cost.
'My home planet was destroyed,' he spoke up, followed by Hesper's shocked expression. ' Since then I have been searching for my sister who I hope is still alive up to today. I believe that if I managed to survive the Apocalypse, she might have done the same'.
Hesper gave him a reassuring smile ' I am certain she is, the same way I am certain this isn't the last I have seen of my loved ones'.
