Ava pov
"Chapter 12, sections 1 and 2 are your homework. Please remember, if you don't show your work, you won't get credit." My calculus teacher said writing the page numbers on the board.
I closed my binder, stuffing it in my book bag while waiting for the bell to ring.
Looking up, I saw Jace talking to a girl who was giggling like he was the funniest person ever.
Mind your business Ava.
I took my phone out and leaned back, checking my emails for a shipping notification when I got a text from Lauren.
Lauren 🌸: Can you come get me please? It's an emergency.
Me: What's wrong?
Lauren 🌸 : Just hurry please.
Worried, I stood up and grabbed my bag walking out of the room, ignoring the teacher asking where I was going.
I walked quickly to the front of the school and outside to my car, getting inside and backing out of my parking space.
Lauren's school was literally up the street from mine, so it took me less than 2 minutes to get there.
I called her phone but she didn't answer so I parked and went inside the school to the front office.
"How can I help you?" The secretary asked.
"Can you call Lauren Reed to the front office?"
She eyed my school uniform before looking up Lauren's class schedule and calling the classroom, instructing the teacher to send Lauren up here.
I sat in the chair crossing my legs, waiting on her.
That's when a couple burst into the office in a fit of rage, "Where is my daughter?!" The man demanded.
The secretary looked up in surprise, "I'm sorry?"
"My daughter called to tell me that she was hit by another student and that nothing was done about it! Get the police up here because I'm pressing charges on the girl who felt she had the right to touch her!"
"What's your daughter name sir?"
"Stacey Abrams."
Lauren's friend. They never did start back speaking after the head incident.
They likely got into it and that's why she texted me. I didn't understand why the principal wasn't the one making calls though.
Lauren walked in the office pausing when she saw Stacey's parents.
They turned at the sound of the door opening and when they saw her, Her mom pointed a finger saying, "Stay right there until the police get here. Today's the day you go to jail."
I hate these white-washed ass people.
I stood up and pushed Lauren behind me, "Don't say anything to my sister."
He looked me up and down, "If she harmed my daughter, I'll be doing more than saying things to her."
"I know you're not threatening her." I said.
"That's a promise."
I pulled my phone out, calling Demetrius.
"Wassup?" He answered.
"Can you meet me at Lauren's school?"
He paused for a second, "Yeah here I come. Gimme like 10 minutes."
I hung up and looked at her dad, "I want you to have this same energy in 10 minutes."
"Gladly."
"Let's calm down." The secretary said standing up and glancing between us uneasily.
