It was eerily quiet between us all. I handed everyone a beer as we sat on the porch of the Chateau. The boat we found was undoubtedly the Phantom. But that just left the question none of us really knew the answer to; where are John B and Sarah now? If there's no bodies then surely that means they're somewhere, right?

"I really don't know whether this means good news or bad news" Kie spoke, interrupting the silence - Finally!

"Come on Kie, you said it yourself that the boat was wrecked! How on earth do you think they survived that?" Pope argued.

The tension was building.

"Come on Pope, there's no bodies which surely is a good sign?-"

"Oh yes JJ, it's a great sign that we can't find our best friend's dead body" Pope spat back at me. I looked across and could see Rosie picking at the label on her beer, her eyes completely focused. I sighed, trying to release some tension. I ran my hands through my hair thinking about how great it would be if it were Rosie doing that right about now.

"Well what do you think happened to their bodies then genius?" Kie pipped up. I smirked at her sass towards Pope. The guy had it coming to him. He tells the girl he loves her, she kisses him, and then he never steps up his game. Of course she's frustrated.

I heard Pope sigh as he kicked his foot into the wooden railings in frustration. "I dunno. I guess they probably got knocked out by the surge... then maybe the sharks finished them off-"

"Bullshit" Rosie cut Pope off.

I looked at her. Her eyes catching the light from fairy lights hanging outside the house. I knew she felt she shouldn't get involved as she wasn't here during the whole treasure-hunt nightmare, but she most definitely seemed to have an opinion now.

"Oh so now you have an opinion?" Pope taunted.

"Come on Pope, you know as well as I do, sharks don't just eat people. Hell, they don't even like the taste of us! I'm just stating the facts, genius." She snapped at him.

"Well thanks for the input Red, but in case you had forgotten, you weren't even here the day they went missing, so you have no right to have an opinion. That storm would have cut them up like no other. You saw the state of the boat." Pope argued back.

I took a step closer to Rosie, suddenly feeling protective of her. "Hey man, it's not fair to make her feel guilty for not being here." I spoke defensively. I saw Kiara give me a small appreciative smile and Rosie's deep blue eyes looked into mine. The atmosphere fell quiet again.

I placed my hand on Rosie's bare shoulder, her skin feeling soft on my finger tips. Pope stood leaning on the wooden beam on the porch, his gaze out towards the water. I could see Kiara looking at him. I was about to ask her to go calm the boy down but I felt Rosie's fingers intertwine with mine. She gave my hand a squeeze and mouthed a silent 'thank you'. I know I wasn't supposed to think this, but all I wanted right then and there was to kiss her. Her soft pink lips were just irresistible. Who'd have thought she'd be interested in a guy like me? Even if it was just a friends-with-benefits type situation. She was all things good and kind, while I was-

I was cut out of my train of thought when I felt her hand slip out of mine and her eyes shift towards Pope, who stood slightly awkwardly in front of us. "I'm sorry Rosie."

I had to say, Pope looked genuinely really guilty, and I wasn't sure if that was for Kiara's sake or for Rosie, but damn the guy did a great puppy dog, forgive me face.

Rosie got up from her spot on the floor and pulled Pope into a hug. "Don't be silly Pope, you have every right to be frustrated." They pulled apart and he put his arm over her shoulders.

"I know, I just shouldn't have snapped at you like that. You are right about the whole shark thing after all..."

"Ah, the brains of the operation finally admits he's wrong" I taunted, giving him a soft shoulder punch whilst Kiara walked past mumbling something about going to bed. I don't think she was particularly impressed with Pope's attitude tonight.

"I'd just rather be an optimist proved wrong, than a pessimist proved right." Rosie stated, a small smile on her lips. "Besides, I don't think it's me you need to be apologising to..." she spoke, nodding towards the direction that Kie had just gone.

I swear if the lights had been up higher I would have been able to see Pope's face turn red. "Go on Pope, be a man" I teased, but also meant every word. He looked down briefly and itched the back of his head.

"Oh, fuck it" Pope muttered before heading inside to make amends with Kie.

I felt Rosie pull on my wrist and I looked at her as she nodded her head towards the hammocks. I smirked as I followed behind her obliging. She could probably lead me right into a burning fire and I'd follow. I never thought it was possible to even feel for a friend like this. "Hammock style hey?" I said as I grabbed her ass playfully: For the record, her ass fits in my hand perfectly and feels sensational.

"Eurgh...No JJ. I wanted to give them a little privacy" She said in a hushed tone, letting go of my wrist. She hopped into the hammock. I stood a little unsure as to what to do. Do I follow her lead? I mean we're just fuck buddies right so surely I should get into a separate hammock? Did she actually mean no or was that one of her games? - I was cut out of my contemplation when I saw Rosie's head pop up.

"Are you gonna stand there all night?"

I smirked at her words and instantly followed suit and jumped into the hammock with her, not realising my own strength. My weight shifted the material causing her body to fall on top of mine. "Well hello there Rosalia" I smirked. She lifted her face up above mine and I could feel her breath against the side of my mouth.

"I've never done it in a hammock before...have you?" She whispered tauntingly in my ear. I couldn't resist anymore as I crashed my lips onto her neck, knowing it was her weakest point. She let out a soft, quiet moan.

"I guess there's a first for everything right?" I teased between kisses to her skin. She pressed her forehead against mine, her deep blue eyes looking into mine hungrily. How could someone be so fragile one second and so feisty the next. She was the perfect combination of sexy and cute. Her lips met mine passionately as I felt her fingers run through my hair.

I guess this is one way to give your friends privacy....
