Chapter 3

The pair of obelisks emerged from the ground inside the bamboo forest.

Lee Gon and Jeong Tae Eul held hands as they walked briskly out of the obelisks. "We should head to the hotel and reserve a room for you first," Jeong Tael Eul said. She wanted to buy time to think of how to inform her father about their marriage.

Lee Gon gently raised her hand in his grasp to lessen her anxiety. "I know you are worried that your father will get another shock to know that his daughter is getting married to someone with no identity. Let me do all the talking. Everything is going to be fine," he said assuringly, his arm wrapped around her shoulder.

Jeong Tae Eul nodded with a smile, relieved that Lee Gon decided to take the responsibility to announce their marriage to her father. She would be much more comfortable interrogating a crafty suspect.

The Alley cafe bright lights could be seen from a distance.

Standing behind the counter, Myeong Nari handed a cup of iced milk tea to her husband Jo Eun Sup. "Have a drink while I clean up the tables. By the time you finish we should be good to go."

Lee Gon and Jeong Tae Eul walked into the cafe casually holding hands. "Na Ri, can we have two ice milk tea please," Jeong Tae Eul called out.

Upon hearing Jeong Tae Eul's voice, Jo Eun Sup turned around and squinted at her. " Noona , we are getting ready to go home." His paused with his eyes widened in joy as he noticed Lee Gon beside her.

"King Arthur," he called out enthusiastically. "It is nice to see you again."

Surprised, Lee Gon shot a brief side glance at Jeong Tae Eul. "Eun Sup remembers me too?"

Jeong Tae Eul kept silent. "How am I going to introduce Lee Gon to abeoji without giving me a shock of his life again..." she thought to herself, recalling her father's reaction when she introduced Lee Gon as her boyfriend before the turn of events.

"Of course I recognize you. I can still remember the sports car you bought me too although it has vanished mysteriously."

Jeong Tae Eul walked up to Jo Eun Sup and pressed her elbow on his shoulder forcefully. "Do you have a death wish?" she hissed. Clouded with anxiety she did not pay attention to Lee Gon's question.

Jo Eun Sup gave a slight shudder, forced a smile at Jeong Tae Eul, and slowly pulled away from her. " Yeobo , please bring noona her drink."

Myeong Na Ri leaned over the counter and whispered in Jo Eun Sup's ear. "Who is this handsome man?"

Jo Eun Sup looked toward Lee Gon with his hands opened. "This is King Arthur, noona 's boyfriend," he introduced.

"No. It's now fiancee," Lee Gon corrected him.

"Fiancee?" Myeong Na Ri uttered, blinking at Jeong Tae Eul in surprise.

"Fiancee?" a loud male voice yelled in alarm.

Jeong Tae Eul looked toward the direction of the voice. "Abeoji," she shuddered, gazing at her father with her eyes wide.

Jeong Do In stormed toward to Lee Gon. He looked at him top to bottom briefly. From the clothes Lee Gon wore, he was certain that Lee Gon came from a well to do family. "Tae Eul, since when did you have a boyfriend and since when are you engaged?" he questioned, still shocked to hear about his daughter getting married.

Jeong Tae Eul looked at her father blankly, smiled and shrugged her, cracking her head for an explanation.

"Samchon , this gentleman here is a chaebol from the United States. Noona rescued him from a group of kidnappers a while ago," Jo Eun Sup interrupted, saving Jeong Tae Eul and Lee Gon from the difficult situation.
