The next morning couldn't have come any quicker. The songs of birds and soft rays of sun shone through the window, a sign you woke up later than you would've hoped, but it's better now than later. Your eyes stung with sleep as you stretched and cracked several joints before gathering your daily uniform and walking to the bathroom. Jotaro moved slightly on the bed and groaned as you got ready for your work.
When you came out, Jotaro sat on the side of the hotel bed facing towards you with one of his hands supporting his head as he rubbed his face and looked around confused.
"(Y/N)...what...what happened last night? I could've sworn I was on the beach just a second ago...God this headache..."
"You passed out on the beach after drinking seven alcoholic beverages. I awoke at one in the morning and went out searching for you when you had not returned from your outing. I assisted you in returning safely and helped you clean up. Your shirt and jacket are hanging in the shower, still drying." you explained and put away your clothing, securing your objective envelope in your pocket; collecting your bag and items for the day.
He responded with a soft grunt as he catered to his pounding headache."Would you like any assistance dressing up or will you be alright on your own?
"Uh...Can you get me a spare shirt from the hotel drawer and the pain reliever next to the phone?"
"Of course."
You walked over and pulled out a neatly folded black turtleneck along with a medium sized bottle of over the counter medicine which was surprisingly light.
"Mr. Jotaro? I know it is not my place to question, but do you have a medical problem with headaches, such as chronic migraines? This bottle is light for its size."
"I guess you could say that."
He snatched the bottle out of your hand and shook out several pills, dry swallowing them as he quickly rolled the shirt over his head and smoothed out the creases. Falling over onto the bed again when he was done.
"I suggest seeing a healthcare professional if these migraines have been bothersome for quite a while. Over the counter medication may sometimes not be enough."
"Sure. Whatever."
He dismissed you with a hand and rubbed his facing, trying to stay awake.
"I am just trying to make sure you're at optimal health sir. I will be on my way to my assignment now. If I have not returned in several hours, a replacement will be provided."
"Huh? What do you mean replacement?"
"I am not permitted to expand on it, but it is simply a warning or "heads up" as some would say in case something happens to me. Just do not be alarmed if another is sent in my place. Feel better soon. Page me if you require me to return early for an emergency."He opened his mouth to question further, but decided he didn't have the energy to deal with your nearly cryptic robot speak, especially when it felt like someone was smashing his head in with a brick and he just wouldn't die. You headed towards the door, but Jotaro stopped you when he called your name.
"Did...did I say anything while I was...drunk?"
You stopped for a moment and looked at him with an emotionless stare, "Yes, but I am not at liberty to discuss it unless requested to do so. Words said while intoxicated are, as far as I understand, secrets and not my place to discuss openly."The room was silent for several minutes as you double checked your belongings and headed for the door.
"You keep a lot of secrets?"
You stopped walking towards the door and stood where you were, your back facing him, "...Perhaps...but it is not important."
You both dwelled in the sweet chirp of song birds and morning silence for a moment before you left the hotel room, calling a cab as soon as you entered the lobby. The cab ride was peaceful as it transitioned from a bustling town to a quiet ocean countryside. The vibrant flora shifting and bending in the wind. The happy scene suddenly turned bittersweet as you were hit with a sense of deja vu. It faded quickly, but still it was odd. You pondered it for a little until the can suddenly stopped with a jolt and you flung forward, slamming into the passenger seat.
"This is as far as I'm going before the road becomes too much to drive over. The place you're looking for is a little ways ahead."
You rubbed your forehead as you felt a faint throb where you landed. "Oh. Well, thank you sir."
You paid the cab fare and got out of the cab, watching the cab drive off back into town. It wasn't too far, so you could probably walk back in about an hour and a half; an hour if you were fast.
