I miss Jas

I miss Jas. I miss her cherry perfume pungent around the penthouse. I miss her yelling at me for messing up my closet. I miss her stuffing her hand-cooked chicken adobo with love to the fullest. I miss her whining about me not watching the puppy videos. I miss dancing around the house to latino music with her. I miss having pillow fights and pool fights. I miss getting drunk with her and sobbing over a romcom.

Yeah we're baddies, but we were also normal girls once, and all these habits stuck with us.

It's been two weeks.

Two whole weeks, and I haven't seen my chellam.

It's haunting me, I can't look at one thing and not see Jas. I feel guilty. I should've planned better, looked after her, maybe I should've gone with her, or instead of her.

My poor darling is spending her time in one of NY's most underfunded places. She must miss her plush bed, the warm showers, the peace of eating good, hand-cooked meals, and I know how much she must believe in me and expect to get her out.

As much as I wanted to break in myself and just get her out, I knew that wouldn't be possible.
I've been working with Marques day and night trying to find a safe, trustworthy alliance with influence to help me get Jas out. I needed someone with both man and political power support.

"Arah, you might wanna take a look at this," I heard Marques call out to me from the living room, while I was busy in the kitchen cooking Jas's favorite, masala dosa with sambar, perks of being South Indian. She absolutely loved my Indian cooking while I would inhale her Filipino food talent.

"Wait, are you making sambar?" I heard Mark's yelling coming closer. Sighing I nodded, and the megawatt smile that broke out on his face was a small ray of sunshine in my troubled paradise.

"What did you want to show me?" I asked, watching him taste the sambar, to which he replied lifting a finger up, signaling me to wait.

He returned with his MacBook, continuing,

"I've got two good news to tell you, you might wanna hear this first though cause I know you're cooking in hope to see Jas soon."

I looked at him puzzled, asking him to finish whatever he was saying. And the next thing he said had me screaming shrill and hugging the soul out of the french teddy bear.

Five words, "We can go see Jas." had me ecstatic. When I asked him how, I received a smart plan.

"I applied for a visitors pass to figure things out with the jail, and so that you hit two birds with one stone, figure out how to get her out and also meet her."

I was smiling so hard my face would split into two, I asked "What is the other news, Marky?"

"I found a guy who could help us."
