Prologue: Merman on the Loose

"Wuxian! come here this instant!" The King of the Wei Clan (The mermaids/ merman), Wei Changze. He shouted, calling out for his son.

"Honey, let your son enjoy himself. He's been training hard. He needs some leisure time." Cangse Sanren, Queen of the Wei Clan.

"If he keeps slacking off, how can he sit on my throne when the time comes?" The king exclaimed furiously.

On the other hand, a boy with his flute in his hand wandered outside the castle. With his red-black sparkling tail, he roams around the villages. He stretched his arms and looked around. Finally, he got out of the boring castle. He smiled as he sees different things in the villages.

He approached a wine vendor and smiled at him, "can I have one?" He said happily. The vendor was about to get angry when he saw who it was.

The vendor bowed at him and handed him a made of shell jar of wine, "Lord Wuxian, it's my pleasure." He said, Wei Ying gladly grabbed the jar and giggled.

"How much is it?" He asked, but the vendor shook his head, "Please, do not bother yourself." He said politely.

Wei Ying smiled happily since he did not bring his pocket of money.

He swam around the village as he drank the wine little by little. "It's getting so boring around here." He sighed and threw the jar, it was already empty.

"If I go home, father would just nag at me about training for my enthronement. Arrrgh!" He whined and stretched his arm.

"What does the outside world looked like?" He asked himself and rest his chin on his hands.

"Might be more fun than this place." He scoffed.

Just then one of his father's army spotted him, He bowed at him, "Lord Wei, the king orders you to go back at the castle." He said politely.

He clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes since he doesn't have anything to do at the village, might as well go home.

He swam on his way to the castle and the soldier just followed after him.

Upon entering the castle, he heard his father having a meeting at the hall. He hid himself and eavesdropped.

"Your majesty, what should we do? The merfolks are planning a siege." One of the officials said.

"Don't worry, I already talked it out with the Phoenix clan and they are willing to help us when that time comes." The king blurted calmly.

"What if we siege their territory instead?" Another official suggested.

"We can't do that. We are not fighting to ruin lives, we fight to protect our people" He said sternly.

"But how would the phoenix clan help us when we're underwater and they are on the sky?" An official asked. Wei Ying nodded, 'he's right, how will they help us?' He sighed, 'sometimes father doesn't think properly, he might have loose nuts on his head' he thought to himself and shook his head.

"That's not going to be a problem, the pearl that has been pass from my ancestors can turn their wings to a tail, I've been using that to settle our affairs in the land." He explained that made Wei Ying's eyes wide, 'that's something interesting, I never know he has that kind of thing to turn me to whatever I want.' giggled quietly. First, he needs to find that pearl. 'It must be in his room.' He thought and silently swam out from where he is hiding.

He sneakily looked at his parents' room, he traveled his eyes around, making sure no one is around to catch him. Then he entered, he locked the door and rummage around the room.

After an hour of rummaging, he found a small box. 'This must be it' he smiled and opened the box. Upon opening, it shone brightly.

He removed it from the box and stared at it. It was pearl put in a necklace. He smiled with triumph, he finally has the pearl. He fixed the box where he saw it and wore the necklace.

Now the only way to test the pearl is to go near the shore. He smiled happily as he sneakily went out of his parents' room.

He swam out of the castle with excitement, he's finally going to see the world outside their world.

He arrived near the seashore, he looked on the necklace and smiled.

"Now, how should I do this?" He studied the necklace, figuring out how can he operate the thing.

After further attempts of figuring out, he gave up. He sighed heavily. "I just want to have legs!" He whined, the pearl suddenly lit up.

Then everything went blurred, he felt the world spinning, and without knowing he blacked out.
