Chapter 3: Tempted

The sun lit the room, shining from the window. Wei Ying stretched his arm as he woke up. With hooded eyes, he looked around.

There, sitting on the chair, Lan Zhan who spend his whole night awake. "good morning" He greeted and stood up. "Morning" Wei Ying greeted and scratched his left eye as he yawned.

"You should eat now, and change into this" Lan Zhan said with his indifferent tone and gave Wei Ying his change of clothes.

Wei Ying eye smiled at Lan Zhan, despite his coldness, Lan Zhan flinched for a second, his face and ears flushed red that made him turn his back on him.

"I'll be waiting for you outside." Lan Zhan excused with his flustered face and went out of the room.

"Are you not going to eat with me?" Wei Ying shouted from inside the room.

"Mn!" Lan Zhan answered as he hurriedly went out of the place. Wei Ying shook his head as he looks at the food on the table in the room.

"He brought this himself but he doesn't even want to eat." He sighed and stood up from the bed, stretching his arm as he walked to the table.

His eyes brighten, and licked his lips, looks delicious, "the food in land really is different from underwater" he scoffed and held the chopstick, "I can't even eat good food there, it's always, 'You should eat that, it's for your health so you can rule the kingdom properly in the future', Like what do eating the food do to ruling a kingdom." He clicked his tongue and started munching on the food. He giggled as he savors every bit, not leaving any trace.

After eating, he patted his belly. Satisfied with the food he just ate. He burped and giggled, haven't had good food for a long time.

He removed the robe and put on the clothes Lan Zhan bought for him. It was a red-black combination of clothing, it reminds him of his tail when he's in his merman form, he smiled. 'What a coincidence' he thought. As when he was about to finish, and putting the belt on his waist is the only thing he needs to put, the door flung open. Wei Ying's chest was still exposed, showing his fair skin and inviting neck.

Wei Ying's eyes went wide so as Lan Zhan who came in without knocking. Their faces both flushed red. Great, the timing is really great.

Lan Zhan immediately went out, he closed the door behind him. Cupping his mouth, his eyes are turning into crimson red again, his fangs nearly exposed, but gladly did not go all the way. He bit his lip, trying to hold on. He needs to restrain himself, the meditation would be a waste, and drinking blood without permission is a big taboo in their clan, he might end up punished or worst killed.

They were both flustered for minutes, but then they both came to their senses. They both took a deep breath, calming themselves.

Wei Ying hurriedly fixed his clothes, his face is still in it's blushing state but he needs to go out, he needs to be composed or else he won't see the land with someone touring him, and it will be hard if he acts awkward around Lan Zhan. He knocked on the door and forced a smile, "Uhm, Lan Zhan?" He called out. Lan Zhan sighed and calmed himself before opening the door for him.

Wei Ying gave him an awkward smiled and scratched his nape. "Thank you for this." He said.

"Mn." Lan Zhan answered, 'it suits him' he thought to himself as he stares at Wei Ying.

"Lan Zhan?" Wei Ying snapped at him. He flinched and immediately turn his back at Wei Ying. His ears are burning has composed himself.

"Then let's go." He said and did not wait for Wei Ying, he doesn't want him seeing all flustered because of Wei Ying's beauty. He walked on his own pace and didn't bother to look back if Wei Ying is following.

Wei Ying immediately walked after him. "Where are we going?" He asked with confusion. Jumping in excitement as he follows Lan Zhan, trying to walk with his pace.

"You said you were wondering what the land looks like, I suppose?" He said as they both walked out of the place.

Wei Ying just followed and giggled. "You're right!" he said cheerfully.

They walked through the town, it was not crowded and only a few civilians were wondering. It's too quiet, that the singing and chirping of birds are the only sound you can hear.

"The town last night was crowded and all of the stores are open, why is it this quiet?" Wei Ying asked as his eyes wandered around.

"It's because most of the creatures that lurk around are night dwellers." Lan Zhan explained with his cold tone, his right hand is placed on his back as he walked.

"Night dwellers?" Wei Ying asked in curiosity and peeked at Lan Zhan's serious face.

"Most of the creatures in land prefer night than day." He continued, Wei Ying nodded indicating that he understood what Lan Zhan was saying.

"So, are you a night dweller too?" He asked with a smile on his face as he looks at Lan Zhan's face if there is any emotion in it.

"I'm a vampire." He said without looking at Wei Ying.

Wei Ying nodded again, convinced at what Lan Zhan was saying. But then he realized, "V-vampire?!" He asked, surprised, and stopped in his tracks, held on his neck, making sure he was not bitten.

"Mn." He answered and stopped as he noticed Wei Ying stopped following him. He looked at him in the corner of his eyes.

"Our clan has been practicing non-blood food for years now, so don't worry." He said and looked at Wei Ying.

Wei Ying sighed in relief, and removed his hands from his neck, "I'm sorry for that. hehe," He apologized and walked beside Lan Zhan.

"It's okay, it's a normal reaction since you're not from land." He said and started walking again.

They explored the town, side by side, and spend the rest of the day making fun.
